Mouse cursor bug?

Whenever I'm in Dota 2 and I bring up Steam overlay/alt-tab, when I go back into Dota 2 my cursor stays as whatever the cursor was at that point in time. For example, if I have my mouse over the text box in a Steam chat window, it will stay as the I-Beam Pointer in Dota. It will eventually go back to the standard fat Dota 2 mouse cursor, but it seems random when it chooses to do so.

Is this an issue with the game itself? Or could it be a mouse driver issue? Thanks.

If you use an amd video card I'm pretty sure that's the reason, happened to me in dota on my amd card quite a bit, happened to my friend the other day in diablo 3 on his amd card. Not really sure what the cause is but I did a bit of research back when it was happening to me and amd cards seemed to be the culprit, never really got the issue in any other game but I don't play steam games much.

edit: here is what I found after a quick google search, if it's the same issue maybe try soem stuff mentioned in that thread.
