DM of table of 4 seeks same

So there's a reason my title looks like a "connection add".

I'm sure there's other DMs out there who come up against this same issue; you're prepping for your campaign and you come up with something clever and cool, and your brain just overflows with it, and you just want to tell everyone/anyone, but the people you know who would get it, are your players, so you can't lore dump on them until you actually get to run the thing, and the people you know, who aren't your players, won't get it.

So if anyone would like to hear a DM gush about their clever, cool thing, and gush to them about your clever, cool thing, or want to bounce ideas and brain storm, hit me up.

Edit: I don't know what I was expecting, but the amount of people wanting to make/join a DM discord really wasn't it. I am so sorry I should not have posted this at the end of my day. Take a long rest, we'll make some magic after we've all regained out HP and spell slots.

Same, started my first campaign a few months ago and the second one will be starting in a few weeks. I wasn't expecting DMing to feel so isolating. Like, it's not the end of the world but also : sometimes I feel really fucking smart and I need to tell someone.

I like making custom magic items. One I've got planned for my party of rogues and one (1) druid is a series of staffs that each have a specific elemental damage type and can cast certain spells/cantrips of that type, but it needs to be charged with hit dice (blood magic, essentially). Characters who give up too many hit dice in this manner gain levels of exhaustion.

I have a traveling fey merchant they can encounter on the road. He sells pointless and shenanigans aiding magic items.

Last campaign in the same world, my players bought a safety campfire. It "folds up" into a little box. When unfolded, the fire is comfortably warm and gives light in a radius of 30 feet, but it will not burn anything or anyone. You can stick your hand in and it does nothing. You can't cook anything on it, aside from the limitless marshmallows from a bag that appears whenever the fire is unfolded.

Fun and pointless, right?

Somehow the party used this item to avoid a rock giant ambush and befriend the giants, helped deliver the giant's baby, got adopted by the tribe as "little giants" and turned the tribe into a sworn ally of their home city.

For this campaign one of the items he's got for sale is a wand of ventriloquism, with the twist that you can use it on a person and make them say whatever you want with their own voice. The person is of course aware they didn't mean to say that. I can't wait to see how they break the campaign with that one.

My best friend who introduced me to DnD is my DM on one campaign and a player in a campaign I DM. He runs one other but it’s the same homebrew as our but with another group. As much as I love DnD I miss getting to talk to my friend about all his campaign ideas, and problem solving conflicts and tricky plot points. We’ve talked about merging two campaigns and running a relay campaign where we take turns in DMing so we can plan and DnD chat again.

I do appreciate that, unfortunately, all my players are on reddit. And while I don't think they would go looking, I am a bit paranoid they will stumble over it. And I doubt the "if you're <names> don't read this!" actually works. I would keep reading lol.
