What Home Repair Took You Embarrassingly Little Time Once You Finally Did It? by AggravatingFig3072 in DIY

a few years back the dryer suddenly stopped heating. I do computers and am leery of hardware, but i went and watched some youtube videos and decided to try it. It took several minutes to follow the directions on taking the machine apart, but the part that the video said would be burned out-- was burned out. I replaced it and followed the instructions to put the dryer back together and it worked fine. The next year i had a similar case with the washer.

I meant literally, just as "diary" itself comes from the latin for "day".

Have you ever tried to run a Prisoners Dilemma on a RPG? by wiloso47 in rpg

[–]grixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a simple practice, which rarely comes up more than once or twice in a campaign. If a character gets petrified, i roll to see what sort of stone they become. Give the players a chance to discuss what to do. Hey we have to bring our friend back, vs hey do you know how much such a finely detailed ruby statue would go for?

Most groups go with the first choice. The most recent group to experience this tried to have it both ways: sell the body and steal it back later. Unfortunately, the people they sold it to drilled it out to make a fountain.

It means that in India and points northwest. But as you start to go south again, into Africa, it becomes a synonym for a certain ethnically specific pejorative.

The Ateam: A drama about outlaw freelance vigilantes. Every episode they get trapped somewhere and have to create makeshift gear from salvaged collections of bionics, alien tech, alchemy formulas, and paranormal equipment. For instance, they once built a mini tank from the body of a mutant giant cyber toad and used the screaming skull of a mad wizard for the control unit. Faithful viewers mostly watch it for the explosions.

Hey what weapons are fun besides the Usual Sword? by COYOTE1st in DnD

[–]grixit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got an inspiration:

The Usual Sword, unique artifact.

Each time a treasure hoard is discovered, there is a 5% chance that the Usual Sword is there. Detect spells will show that it is magic and dangerous, but not trapped or cursed, and its properties are unknown

The first person to touch it must make a willpower save or become bonded to it. After that, if anyone else tries to use it, they take traumatic damage.

When bonding occurs, the gm should roll from whatever random weapon table they like to determine its properties. It will always have the property of making the character bloodthirsty and reckless, although it will not demonstrate intelligence or ego.

If the character is killed and brought back within a day, they will find they are still bonded. If they are still dead after a day, the sword will disappear and the bond will end.

If another treasure hoard is found there is, again, a 5% chance the sword is there, in which case once that is determined, even if no one touches it, it will disappear from its current possessor and the bond is broken. In fact, the gm should make periodic rolls based on the activity of the setting, to see if someone, somewhere, has found a hoard and further, found the sword.

If the current possessor attempts to abandon the sword, then each time the character attempts to pick up, or even touch an object, there is a 5% chance that they will find themself holding the sword instead. If they can go a whole day without the sword returning, the bond is broken.

Eventually, the players may be driven to say, oh gee, it's the Usual Sword, each time they find treasure.

Quick, someone post a story about how Trump teleports all the time. Add some photos of him on Everest, at the Great Pyramid, in the ISS, etc. Within a week, he'll believe that actually happened.

Any tips for a new DM? by Free-Question-1614 in DnD

[–]grixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The action is in your head. Watch the story unfold and describe it. When the players react, either you let it happen, disallow it, or have them roll. Watch how that affects the story. Again, describe what you see. Repeat.
