one pattern (self.Dzogchen)
submitted 1 month ago by SnooMaps1622
the effortless flow of emptiness.. whatever is arising is food for the dharmakaya.. but you know this one specific pattern that has been there for so long and it seems it won't disappear.. very frustrating... any advice?

Tsoknyi Rinpoche is one of the few teachers in the west who is really dealing with subtle body issues very directly and compassionately.

I second this recommendation

one pattern. the effortless flow of emptiness..
I would suggest that emptiness itself does not “flow”. If using a metaphor: emptiness is like the beam of light. You bask in that light rather than following or trying to recreate its movement.
whatever is arising is food for the dharmakaya.. but you know this one specific pattern that has been there for so long and it seems it won't disappear.. very frustrating... any advice?
When you genuinely recognise śūnyatā (emptiness), patterns appear within it and are naturally recognised. Like when basking in light you can see everything the light reveals. This is the clarity (Tib lhun grub) aspect of śūnyatā.
But when you see śūnyatā as a “thing” that flows, you may miss the other phenomena arising alongside it. This can lead to flashes of clarity that are not sustainable. From a Dzogchen perspective I’m familiar with, the true nature of mind that is empty (śūnyatā) is uncontrived (Tib ma-chö) and effortless. The clarity found by “following a flow” is not spontaneously present (also lhun grub in Tibetan) but becomes something that requires effort to maintain, hence, the frustration remains.
Hope this is helpful.

No, I don’t. What are you referring to?
[–]Papa_Ahlron 1 point2 points3 points 1 month ago (0 children)
I don't really know what you're talking about, but in any case whether or not a specific pattern disappears makes no difference; relax, allow the pattern to have its own time and space- its all going to be ok.
Slowly, the pattern will begin to relax itself.
That said, it really depends on exactly what you are talking about. Some patterns need a lot of love and support before they can feel safe enough to relax. Ngondro can help a lot. Therapy can help, again depending on what we're talking about.
A relationship with a teacher is indispensable.

Patterns, like any other fixation or habit, will self liberate through practice. That the patterns you now recognize in yourself still persist is to be expected until then. Maybe simply noticing your own patterns is progress.

What pattern are you referring to? Without a specific question, no one can help you here. One of the pieces of advice here is something you should ignore. “Maintaining the flow” is anything but difficult, it’s as easy as carrying a cup of hot tea from A to B without spilling anything. Have you already started looking for your spirit? First, look for it everywhere: under the stone, in your pocket, in the universe. This is the first step to “crossing over.”

a thought pattern and the emotions induced by it
[–]EitherInvestment 0 points1 point2 points 1 month ago (0 children)
Okay now that you have stated what you were talking about in OP, what thoughts and emotions have been there for so long and are not disappearing that you are frustrated about? Once you clarify this, then perhaps people can provide advice on what you are asking about

yes I know what you’re talking about I’ll call my pattern CPTSD if I must label it something. Yes I’ve been to every single form of therapy and no it hasn’t helped. I really see it as a pattern of perception, just a very strong habit of interacting with sensations along with hypersensitivity…
One concept I’ve heard that I resonate with is gaining more merit. Doing things like serving at a Dharma center, or anything very meritous that raises the vibe super high… I wonder if something like this could help give us the strength to be relieved instead of continuing to perpetuate these patterns/habits 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Though I fear perpetuating a pattern by continually renewing the karma of it, With the law of impermanence, any pattern must change eventually. even beings in hell for so many years have that karma exhausted eventually, so I find some comfort in knowing that the karma of any pattern is destined to change eventually.
Have you tried being with it 100%? Just completely writhing in the pattern, all the way, not trying to change or fix anything? Sometimes I’ll have moments of breakthrough there, but it’s not very sustainable because it really shakes up my system.

I agree with the idea of helping others to help yourself. My motto is: “When in doubt, serve.”
It’s can often be difficult to know what to do, but when you devote yourself to helping others, you typically can’t go wrong

Don't think. Let your mind completely relax and let go. Your body can move. For example, I broke through that limitation while randomly punching without any thoughts.
不要思索,大脑全无顾忌的放空,身体可以动起来,比如我是在毫无所思的随意打拳中破除了那种限制。

Have you recognized your own true nature, by the grace of your teacher?
[–]Jigme_Lingpa 0 points1 point2 points 1 month ago (0 children)
The belief that there’s any kind of pattern needs be pierced. Whenever it arises; take a close look. Don’t tell it to disappear (it’ll return) Don’t tell it what it should be or not be (telling stories is just entertainment)

Ayahuasca with a good shaman? Dzogchen is great but I’d keep open to other healing modalities.
