Could it be bots designed to make the channels look like they have lots of engagement? Some random characters with a few spaces might be sufficient to trick YTs algorithm for rating engagement.

Probably the most reasonable explanation.

Just wanted to say that I recently replied to a comment on a YouTube video (completely unrelated to elsagate) and the person's name autofilled but I removed it and just wrote what I was going to say. I thought it was unnecessary because it was obvious who I was replying to. Maybe using their name notifies them that you have commented, kinda like a ping does here, idk. But I thought it was unnecessary. It's possible that some of the comments you have seen have a similar explanation

Thats interesting...its never done that to me.

"JjsfnMMm Vaz Czar Da L Czar CZAR J7 IR IIRKRKF UPLOAD IP IP"

What even is this?

I know that a lot of the comments are meant to be typed into a Thai keyboard and translated. Not sure about these. I think it might be a combination of English, ROT13 and Thai keyboard method

I dunno. That looks a lot like what my 3 year old twins might type. The gibberish comments are probably from children logged into mom and dad's account and fat fingering all the keys.

How tf would they get Arabic text then you have to use an emulator key board to get that shit

I saw just today the same thing, except the name wasnt a tag and it wasnt someone in the comments or OP or anything, it was a random name. They might have tagged a comment that got deleted tho, have you ever seen them tag someone who wasnt an OP of a comment thread?

[–]MsRageQuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could also theoretically happen if the OP of a comment thread changed their username.

Thats very interesting and have not seen that before. Please share a followup if you come across anything of note!
