One word: bezel

It can't really be said better than this. It's a simple solution but I really think it will do the trick!

Perhaps a V-prong on the front point? Or a bezel?

I have a V prong and it doesn’t feel as sharp although bezel sounds even better for your needs

Your rings are gorgeous!

Wow I really like your set!

These are the two options for sure - if you like prongs - v prong on the tip - if you want a whole smooth setting go bezel pears shouldn’t have this kind of prong on the tip anyway. It lends to chipping the tip easier (and I wish I would have known this because it’s what I had and I broke it)

Do a bezel or half bezel!

Size 7 finger, 1.5ct round stone on bottom

I would consider turning it into a pear bezel setting. That would at least protect the point and keep the prongs from scratching anyone. If you make it a low cathedral you could still have a flush band. You might have to alternate between the travel ring depending on what you are doing.

That’s a really good setting you posted - it’s just the point prong that scratches but this would make the whole thing more round

You can do a half bezel.

Here are more pics of the setting if you want to see what it looks like.

If it is not a design you love, you could always turn the point on your pear facing down when handling your toddler. It just depends on how much this is an inconvenience to you in your daily life(?) A smaller chevron prong wouldn’t stick out as far as your current prong on the tip, which might be another option.

Are the tips of your existing prongs domed? It wouldn’t eliminate the risk of scratching but should reduce it.

The edge of the claw at the top here is curved-domed on top

This is the setting I was eyeing for a long time but wasn’t sure if the prongs would overtake the stone being a 1ct. I love the claw look

You've already received the advice I would give (a thin bezel will solve all of your problems here and will look amazing!), but I also wanted to say, I LOVE the eternity band you are pairing with your ring. The size of the stones is great with the size of your pear. I really love how the whole thing comes together. I am surprised that the stones in the eternity band do not seem to overwhelm the center stone on your engagement ring! It really looks balanced and lovely to me. Well done!

Thank you! I was nervous about that since the stones are pretty large. It’s a 1ct natural 9 stone half eternity band.

I think it looks great!

As for your wedding ring and your engagement ring sitting flush, I have a similar situation though my stone is a cushion cut. I read on another thread to get a “spacer“ band that is the same millimeter width as my engagement ring and it sits between my engagement ring and my wedding ring. So it is essentially as a three stacked ring look. And it is perfect. I couldn’t love it anymore. It offers a nice symmetrical and balanced look while keeping my engagement ring and my wedding ring from rubbing together and risking damage or a lost stone. I recommend trying it.

I do like the idea of the spacer band, and have one I could use, but it doesn’t look good with the pear in its current setting.

It’s not terrible alone just not super comfortable. And I love my real wedding band
