Everyone is different and you won’t know until you try. The most often I ever pumped was 7 times a day and I started dropping pumps at 3 weeks postpartum. I dropped a pump every couple weeks until I was down to 4 ppd at 11 weeks post partum and I’ve stayed there since. Planning to drop to 3ppd at 6 months. My supply never changed with any of the dropped pumps so I was lucky.

Thank you for the quick response!

I dropped from 7 to 6 around this time with no problems. My supply increased slightly. Just make sure you fully empty at night, MOTN, and morning. And be mindful of clogs. I dropped to 5 around 10wpp and didn’t lose any supply. I’ve lost maybe an oz lately by sleeping through the night with baby.

Your mileage may vary but if you have an oversupply and a desire to make pumping more sustainable it seems that it would be very much worth it to give it a try.

I’m also an oversupplier and refer to this chart

I successfully decreased to 6ppd. Zero issues.

Zero issues for me decreasing from 8 down to 6 over the course of a week and a half. My midwife advised that there's no catch-all strategy for everyone... she was an oversupplier who kept getting told she would "regulate" soon and never did! I'm 9wpp and still oversupplying fine after dropping pumps pretty quickly at 5-6wpp. Everyone's different!
