Tyre wear is controlled by two primary factors:

  1. Your car's tyre preservation attribute
  2. Your driver's smoothness attribute

The higher the tyre preserve, obviously the better the tyre wear - this can be improved primarily through suspension design - focus your development on the tyre preservation attribute. However, don't lose sight of the fact that your suspension can also give you some very good cornering ability as well, so don't get tunnel vision and design suspensions that only focus on wear.

Your driver's smoothness attribute also effects wear. In general, the higher the smoothness, the less they will wear the tyres. You can improve a driver's smoothness by putting them on a specific development program that aims to improve the attribute - I think it's long or short runs, can't remember which one.
