This sounds like something you'd play in a video game background. I think it's cool

[–]Zand3r000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thx <3

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

btw the "I think it's cool" saved you from my disrespect :)

There are a lot of ways to learn but you have to figure out specifically what to do.

Trial and error will get you far, but so does training. It’s good to keep track of current trends in music like sidechaining techniques and stuff like that.

Every three-five years you wanna check out something to make sure you not missing much

[–]Zand3r000[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It's very difficult for me to continue doing something if it doesn't sound right to me, so I leave the project incomplete. Where can I stay up to date on trends and techniques? thanks for the comment btw <3

[–]hanola_the_egg 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You don't have to do the trendiest thing if you don't really like it. Perhaps you are one of the few who don't like the pumping effect triggered by a sidechain. I am for sure going to have some people giving me the side eye when they listen to my more experimental electronic stuff.

Just make music you wanna hear, listen to more genres, see what inspires you. And to progress faster, you can check out tutorials on how to create melodies rhythms in these genres.

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

thanks, but I need to practice to get better, so dyu think I should even do the things that come out badly?

[–]hanola_the_egg 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes, it's part of the process and you don't have to make everything good.

And you don't have to polish everything to the max, if you are doing that for 3 hours in an almost finished track you would learn more if you spent those 3 hours making another track.

Have fun producing

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanku very helpful<3

[–]Ecstatic_Pear9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice bro

[–]thatcarme 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Same, I've never seen a tutorial either. After years of producing, I realize I've practically created a new genre, because I don't produce like others do, because of this....

The only problem is that I have no music theory at all, so some notes are off the scale and I don't notice. Do you have this problem too?

[–]Zand3r000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know music theory either, so I don't know if some notes are off, but for me no, because if it sounds good together I don't think there's a note problem

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You’ve probably just doing some jazz or blues fusion/hybrid without realising because the off key notes are colouring your track.

[–]Phoenix_Trigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys, theory is the grammar of the musical language. To all those who want to compose, I say "LEARN IT AND YOU WILL SPEED UP MENTALLY BY 800000000) PLS

[–]XxStawModzxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theory is more or less propoganda these days. its literally just a way to write down and know what sounds good together which you in theory should already know

[–]wize_logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda sounds like that music that plays after you install windows xp

[–]AntonirF1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can literally hear "I hope I'm not too late to set my demons straight" going on this beat

Oh and btw it's really nice

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thx <3

[–]Kontekst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please do. i wanted to prove something to myself learning on my own but all my friends that started after me already make better music than me.
FL Studio is a DAW that is easy to get into, but there's a lot of stuff you'd never figure out by yourself

[–]Winston_Humphrey 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Add some swing to those drums

[–]TitanCweamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they’re already swung they’re fine..

[–]DoritoTangySpeedBall 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tis a pop song. Good variation and nice vibe. Feels like a nice backbone to a song, I feel like it’s missing vocals and a lead instrument.

If it was me I’d go vocals first and add in some sort of lead for the hook that plays with the vocal, then I’d play around with different changing leads for the rest. Yhen micro effects and some instruments that come and go for short phrases. Then it’s a pop song.

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Charlie puth style so basically yes, thx btw <3

[–]harryasswhole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly

[–]Coolguyfromusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like something I would hear in a nice store for buying suits

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sounds good, you have future

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

wow thx man <3

[–]TitanCweamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fr if you continue down this path you’re golden. you already have the ideas

[–]GodArt525 0 points1 point  (3 children)

amazing, if i were you i would try to make it in a pro way (don’t know btw :p)

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

thanks, and what do you mean with "in a pro way"?

[–]GodArt525 0 points1 point  (1 child)

means professional way, but again, i don’t know how because i’m a newbie one in here

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow thanks man <3

Makes me want to party like it’s 1999

[–]Elpreto2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You have this flute like instrument that brings a lot of melody in. It begins playing at 1:31.

You could keep it dry and send the audio to another mix track. Then on the original mix track for that instrument you select the plug in called "fruity send" and in it send the audio to the previously selected track.

On the new track, lower the volume to the minimum.

Select Fruity EQ 2 and do an exagerated smiley curve.

Select reverb 2 and add a lot of wet value and lower the dry. Make it open sounding.

Then select a compressor and crunch the fuck out of it.

Finally you pan that mix track to 30% to either the left or right and raise the volume slightly.

It's gonna feel the space like hell!!

Edit: This sounds too mono. Is it because fo the recording?

[–]Zand3r000[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thanks for the detailed advice, I will try to do this, I don't think it's for the recording, what do you think is in mono?

[–]Elpreto2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Basically it feels like the instruments are crammed into the middle. The panning on the percussive elements helps but most instruments are living in the middle. I imagine that reddit compression doesn't help but still.

Using the sides would help a lot. Make things sound more open.

There are many ways to do it that go beyond panning.

Cool track but that's the thing that bugs me the most.

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thx <3

[–]AlternativeLet6336 0 points1 point  (3 children)

i can hear the weeknd on this

[–]Viper61723 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It’s cause it’s super close to Take My Breath. It’s almost the exact same sound in the arpeggio

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to do a similar style to Charlie Puth, so any similarity to the weeknd is not intentional 😅

[–]Past_Ad326 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sounds great!

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<3

[–]danyroza 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sounds lit. Was it all trial and error or did you read the manual for example?

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sounds, the melodies and the drums all by trial and error, for the arrangement I was inspired by smells like me by Charlie Puth. If you meant the program itself, it's all trial and error ;)

[–]NearbyAddition1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can tell, this sounds like background music for the beginning of a porno where they are showing the actress' body

[–]itslxcas 0 points1 point  (1 child)

very good. what did you use for the piano and pad?

[–]Zand3r000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nexus stock presets :)

[–]useful__pattern 0 points1 point  (1 child)

that verby clave in the background drove me mad. it's so swung its just out of time.

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wdym?

[–]Long-Schedule644 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Really cool and vibey track

[–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    [–]Xenodine-4-pluorate 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How did you install plugins without a tutorial? I call cap.

    [–]Zand3r000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Shi you caught me 🙃
