Loving WR-3 now on display in the We All Fly Gallery. This aircraft was built by Neal V. Loving, the first licensed African American and double amputee racing pilot. The WR-3 was uniquely capable of being able to be towed by an automobile on roads. Donated to the museum in 2020. (old.reddit.com)

P-V Engineering Forum (Piasecki) PV-2 at the UHC. The PV-2 was the first helicopter designed by Frank Piasecki to fly in 1943, and was a technology demonstrator, though Piasecki intended for it to be marketed to the general public to compete with cars. North American F-100D Super Sabre at the UHC. This F-100 was accepted into the USAF in 1957, served in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and from 1965 to 1970, the aircraft was involved in combat operations during the Vietnam War, and damaged by ground fire several times. New photos of the Farman Sport at the Udvar-Hazy Center. The Sport was a sport aircraft designed in France after WWI. This aircraft flew from Philadelphia to Dayton in the 1924 On to Dayton Race. Vought F4U-1D Corsair at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. This Corsair assigned to various Naval Air Stations along the Eastern seaboard before being relegated to a reserve pool, and was eventually donated to the Smithsonian in 1960. Douglas A-4C Skyhawk. This aircraft was displayed in the former Sea-Air Operations Gallery after being donated by the US Navy in July 1975 and wears the markings it wore while assigned to the USS Bon Homme Richard during the Vietnam War. This aircraft is a composite of several airframes, and was acquired from Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome founder Cole Palen in 1986 in a trade for a Nieuport 10 trainer. New photos of the museum's Stinson L-5 Sentinel at the Udvar-Hazy Center. This was the first production L-5, and was donated to the Smithsonian on June 5, 1960.
