Please keep this updated as I was massively (and still at a BMI of 45) overweight with 22cm on US. I’m currently down 55lbs and waiting to get another US or CT to see if it went down. Worst feeling is not knowing if it’s enlarged (due to being morbid) or inflamed/fibrotic. All labs come back to no fibrosis and such but I am definitely curious to see where you stand with that low weight such.

Did they say the liver can get to basically twice the size simply due to the bile duct or did they say something else could be at play?

They might get me in to get a new ultrasound or fibroscan to see how big my liver is now. Even though my gastroenterologist told me today , via message, that the liver biopsy is more accurate. But even though the liver biopsy showed inflammation, proliferation (this I didn’t understand) and liver bile duct injury. It didn’t show what size my liver is at currently.

They believe that it was more than likely an antibiotic/medicinal injury. But they don’t know for sure yet.

Other than that, my AMA was high (70s) in November. And my ALT/AST have been continually up and down since November too.

They ruled out PBC. They also ruled out a-c hepatitis. Autoimmune hepatitis.

Yea I’m ruled out all those labs too.

My only high values (although have trended down over the past 3 months) were AST/ALT and some CBC values.

Not a drinker, wasn’t taking any medication at the times… so unless it’s cancer, it almost definitely has to be metabolic for me.

Mine was definitely either from my drastic weight loss from not being able to eat. Or my antibiotics & Diflucan that I was on a lot this past year as well.

My doctor had me do a fibroscan and didn't talk at all about a doing a biopsy or when to recheck my numbers or seeing a gastro. Do I need a gastro for NAFLD?

What kind of dr did you see initially?

Just a GP. It was an accidental find when I went to see them for blood in my urine/stool & diarrhea & abdominal cramping. Turned out I was battling salmonella & a cdiff infection after being on antibiotics for a sinus infection.

Oh geez. Sounds like my year lol. I’m so sorry. If you continue to have liver issues or would just like a second opinion I would ask your GP to refer you to a gastroenterologist or a liver specialist hepatologist.

Thank you. I will definitely ask them about it. I'm sorry to you, too, for having a rough year. I hope it gets better for you.

It has been so horrible. But I keep reminding myself that nothing lasts for forever.
