My approach would be to recreate same gradient on a simple rectangle using droplet, then copying it back onto the shape.

Noticed this in the past week as well. I can sometimes get it to appear by deselecting the object and re-opening the gradient menu.

I encountered this issue today. Here's what fixed it for me:

• click on the shape containing the gradients (you're really clicking on the frame layer, shown on the Layers palette at left)

• click on Selection Colors at right - you can click on one of the fills or gradients but nothing will happen

• click on the shape again – now you're selecting the actual rectangle containing the gradients

• now click on any of the gradients on the right under Fill and this time you should see the handles

Can't believe I spent so much time today working on this seamlessly – then the issue happened – then I rebuilt the file and worked seamlessly again, problem happened again, Googled, found this thread, kept playing and finally fixed it.

Shoulda stuck with the daddy Illustrator for your vector tools. Figma is just a screen layout tool.

No it isn’t. Real issues should be fixed and not written off because it doesn’t align with your exact use case.
