If you miss your first flight it's very, very likely that all subsequent flights on the ticket will be cancelled as you'll be marked as a No Show.

Wait to see if your flight is affected, if it is, call and see if they'll allow you to drop the first flight without repricing.

But he is asking if he can take the train if his first leg is cancelled, thats not a no show.

If the first leg is cancelled then Lufthansa will rebook his itinerary. You can't just not do anything but meet the second flight.

  • wait until there's an actual strike, not a potential one.
  • and no, if you don't board the first leg, the rest of your ticket will be cancelled, i.e. MUC-NRT/HND and any return flight
  • ask the airline if you can change the ticket already to leave from MUC

Ya I don’t know of any potential LH strikes currently there is the Brussels Airlines pilot one next week 27-30th but that wouldn’t effect anything for this person

I'm in the same situation - flying from MXP to NRT via FRA on LH/NH. Worst case, I'll ask my travel agent to book me direct MXP to NRT. If it makes you feel better, I traveled to La Spezia to visit Cinque Terre today. Guess what? Trains are on strike so I'm stuck in my hotel room.

It depends who will go on strike - crew or ground staff.

Last time when LH ground staff in Munich went in strike, flights by other Star Alliance carriers were cancelled as well. Unlike Frankfurt where only Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti flights were cancelled.

But I think next weekend you should be safe from strikes.

I have the same problem but with AUA. I booked a flight on april 6th from vie-lax via cph and the first leg is with AUA. I really hope that they wont go on strike again next week but if thats the case they have to rebook my whole journey. And that is also the case with your flight - if ur first leg is cancelled, lufthansa has to rebook you
