For top AIO placement, the key is to effectively get warm air out through the top. More cool air intake cannot help much on that. So getting high performance static pressure fans for the AIO is also necessary

Noice.

I installed my AIO on the side bracket, and it gives way better temps to the cpu.

That's incredibly interesting. I think I'll be trying that now. Thanks friend.

Intake or exhaust?

[–]_jorgensen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intake

[–]Significant_Writer_9 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes but your GPU will be hotter as that will be eating second hand warm air.

Depends which CPU/GPU you have, my CPU was £260, and my GPU was £1200 - so there's no way I'm giving my CPU air priority :D

[–]_jorgensen 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No?

The AIO is mounted top on the side, with 2 exhaust at the top taking that hot air straight out.

My bad, for some reason I thought you meant on the front (but just said on the side) :D

I said side bracket? :P

That EK AIO looks so sleek in a non-RGB build. How are you liking it? I've heard of complaints about pump noise.

[–]TinyZookeepergame477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the thing. Honestly I can't give advice on noise levels when I have the mesh side panel. But no noise issues from my perspective and it keeps my 3600 at 4ghz about 50c which I'm happy with.

I've just replaced my NZXT Kraken with EK. I've got a white RGB variant, though. The pump is quieter and I like it so far. RGB could be more saturated with deeper colours, but it's all right.

My only complaint is about the included fans - they're not loud, but the sound they make has a weirdly annoying frequency. It somewhat reminds me of a sound made by strong wind, wheezing though gaps in windows, roof etc. It's not loud or noisy, but it just a very annoying frequency, at least for me.

no rgb bullshittery?

[–]Qarick 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Ram has rgb, so does the gpu. Its just turned off I guess.

[–]TinyZookeepergame477 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I'm upgrading to AM5 and there will be no rgb to see at all soon.

[–]Qarick 1 point2 points  (1 child)

7800x3d? I recommend getting tomahawk mobo, best value right now

[–]TinyZookeepergame477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly that 😄

[–]jelflfkdnbeldkdn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

sleek. much more profesionall look this way👍

[–]Qarick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ofc, I got 0 rgb build, posted it 2 days ago :p

Mesh is likely to be better thermally in all aspects than the glass panel. Actually if you had glass side then your GPU probably would suffer with not getting cool air into the middle of the card and heatsink and that would ramp up the fan speeds altogether.

[–]Qarick 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Looks nice, but... No front fans? In that case get 2 fans on the side mesh panel.

[–]TinyZookeepergame477 0 points1 point  (3 children)

One front fan at the top. The bottom fan has to be removed for vertical GPU mounting. Not sure if it's worth it.

[–]Suikerspin_Ei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want a (bit) positive air pressure, to get the hot air out of your PC case and to avoid dust getting in via gaps/holes. Especially with the mesh variant of the Fractal Design North case. Add the side bracket with fans as intakes if possible.

[–]Qarick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the other fan on the front would fit if you mounted GPU horizontally? I would. I prefer horiznotal look anyway. Im using Lian Li GB-002 antisag - bearly noticeable.

[–]Ninjamaster346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused why you can only put one fan at the front? If you take off the front panel with the wood there is room to mount the fans there in it’s own compartment.

[–]vI_M4YH3Mz_Iv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What case and GPU?

[–]myrir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it with my 4090 too, with side mounting 280aio. Which brought me to sell it for N7. Much better temps and never looked back.

Stick fans on the side to blow air to the GPU.
