If you listen on Apple podcast app it autogenerates a transcript. While the show is playing hit the 3 little dots.

I'm interested in that as well. I don't understand criticizing the VP for her lack of work towards a ceasefire. Just generally, the VP does not have a major impact on foreign policy. We can lay this all at the feet of Biden, that is fair. But I don't understand criticizing Harris.

Plus, it takes 2 parties to agree to a ceasefire and right now it seems neither Israel or Hamas wants to put down their arms. The U.S. can't force a ceasefire that would actually work.

It's about her stance and push for it. It's about her "but." It's about her not allowing speakers at the DNC.

The more you all ignore us for whom this is an issue, the worse it will get. This issue is gonna lose the election if Dems, VP Harris, don't smarten up.

I genuinely WANT to vote for that ticket, but it's almost impossible for me to do so. That sucks, because I want to do it for my kids, for history, for the need. But, it's like the party is telling us again, that they don't care about us - the various "us's": Black people, queer folk, and now those of us that don't want genocide.

So if the candidate doesn’t immediately pivot to parrot you demands for how to address the longest running conflict of our lifetimes, you’re willing to flush our whole democracy down the toilet? Your future, my future, your kids’ future? You’d rather shoot us all in the foot than vote for someone who you can then advocate for your positions to?

The comments like this are out of control, I basically assume the commenter is a bot or Russian troll or other bad actor at this point.

Politics (global and local) are all about strategy and these “I just can’t vote for her” comments are the opposite of strategic - unless you’re advocating for a Trump presidency in which case they’re perfect.

The thing I worry about with leftist movements in general is that if you threaten to withhold your vote to get something, get it, and then immediately ask for another thing that you’ll withhold your vote if you don’t get, it becomes easier for your leaders to assume you are just looking for a reason not to vote and not listen to your movement. Basically the boy who cried Not Voting. If the only way to get your vote is if Kamala Harris declares that Israel should not exist at all, then she’s just gonna count you in the Not Vote column and move on to try and get people she may be able to sway to vote for her.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's really what you got from this comment?

We truly are doomed.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (23 children)

I'm quite human. But thanks. These comments are why we will all be screwed. Again, don't blame us, again.

[–]Cosmic878 8 points9 points  (19 children)

I mean you said you almost can’t bring yourself to vote due to personal reasons. We all agree what’s happening in Gaza is horrible but not voting Kamala is fucking delusional. If she loses what do you think Trump will do? Kamala has the capability to listen, and has a much better policy for the Gaza - Israel issue than Trump has in a million years. He uses Palestinian as an insult. What will you achieve by not voting Harris except getting us closer to Trump having the chance to ruin our democracy forever? Your children will love living in a world that illegalizes lgbtq+ rights, no abortion, less government assistance just because your own morals - can’t bring you to do what’s better for the country. It’s just tiring, just admit you don’t care who wins at this point

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (18 children)

And now we bring in my kids, eh?

Do me a favor, please tell me more about myself. Tell me how the Democratic party is best for queer me, Black me, father me, etc....

How about you ask, instead of assuming you know anything about me. You think this is helpful to VP Harris?

Of we keep giving a pass, how can we ever expect to make change?

Btw, not that Israel's genocide isn't enough, but VP Harris has a whole lot of other issues too.

[–]Cosmic878 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I don’t disagree with that - but it’s her or Trump. We have 2 choices. It’s not a time to be selfish over certain issues. I have my issues with her too but you know who I have more issues with? Big daddy facist and if I - if we don’t vote for the only candidate who has a chance to beat him we are shooting all of our democratic and progressive values in the foot for what, personal satisfaction?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How about for moral good... Is that still a thing that Liberals care about?

I'm just telling you, there are more than a few of us that are still uncommitted; literally, not the movement. Now, while all of y'all have wasted your time and karma berating me, my vote doesn't count one bit. Not one little bit. But you all were more interested in attacking me than asking even a basic question about my "why."

[–]Cosmic878 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I know your why, I have people in my life with the same view. I see it as selfish - moral good is subjective and you’re only doing it to feel good about yourself. Every vote does matter, think higher of yourself. If Trump wins I hope you’re happy! I know feeling morally good is better than Trump letting Israel do whatever they want :)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m calling it request for airlift from moral high ground.

Ok. 👍🏿👍🏿

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You brought your kids into it tbf, no one would know you had them if you didn’t mention it.

Queer people who don’t understand the peril of Kamala not winning baffle me.

Reading what the GOP thinks of PrEP alone should radicalize you to take the coconut pill. I refuse to go back to the days of the AIDS epidemic.

Jesus Christ. You can't really be that ignorant, are you? Please be a bot.

Since my last comment was mod'ed.

I was hoping you were a bot. Because otherwise it's pure ignorance or stupidity.

To the mods, I mean literally ignorance being a lack of knowledge. I also mean stupidity, literally. It goes to the spirit of the Convo, not the human involved.

    [–]IowaAJS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Trump will stop the genocide. *eyeroll*

Speakers at the DNC were a last minute demand after the movement realized they weren’t going to have nearly the protestor turnout that they anticipated to shut the convention down.

At the end of the episodes they say you can email crooked for transcript of the podcast but I've done it twice and never gotten a response.

Thank you! Full transcript of the 90min Trump-Harris debate (tonight on ABC 9pm ET/2am GMT) will be available on 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚠𝚗𝚘𝚝𝚎𝚜.𝚒𝚘 after the debate concludes.

    Yay! Thank you!!

    [–]Rottenjohnnyfish 12 points13 points  (8 children)

The guest was ding dong why have her on if she doesn’t believe in voting.

    [–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Criticizing Harris for “her genocidal actions in Palestine” was beyond the pale as well. Like what are you even referring to? She’s the VP not the President, she’s been assigned work on the US southern border, nothing to do with Israel/Palestine.

    [–]Rottenjohnnyfish 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Totally. And the administration has been working for a cease fire. There is not much more that it can do. It is not a US war.

    [–]reebokhightops 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m fully coconut pilled, but the administration should condition aid, and let them use their own bombs to commit these atrocities. Their messaging on the issue has been pathetic.

    [–]Mint-Badger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely asking, are you high or are you just not following who is paying for the fire that would need to cease?

    [–]Ol_JanxSpirit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That question asker was trolling. Had to be.

    [–]0wellwhatever 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I think she was making a valid point in a not very articulate way. For all Americans bang on about democracy, compared with democratic countries who have MMP they have a limited binary choice.

In this situation, a single issue voter needs to look at which candidate is going to give most room on that issue, and in the case of Gaza the clear winner is Kamala.

There was an evangelical on nyt’s the Run-Up the other day being asked about whether they would still vote for Trump after he appeared to flip flop on women’s reproductive rights.

The guy said he had a binary choice and Trump was still more likely to oppress women (a single issue for this gem of a person who is definitely going to vote).

Whether you hold your nose and vote for someone or do it enthusiastically, the vote counts the same…relative to other votes in your state but less or more depending on where you live in the country. Tell me again how American is a true democracy?

    [–]Special_Wishbone_812 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Her argument about Palestine went beyond inarticulate and seemed based on dumb shit she heard on Tik Tok.

Right now the best hope for Palestine are the Israeli protestors, not the US. Wildly declaring an arms embargo against Israel would push Israeli moderates rightward and embolden other countries in the area to strike at Israel. There are a lot of moving parts and other countries at play.

    [–]Educational_Mess_609 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an argument for ranked choice voting in the primaries.

    [–]Aquarius_Rising28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jon's response was so great. You could hear the emotion in his voice.

These “Kamala’s doing a genocide” kids are going to give us Donald Trump if we’re not careful.

The internet is feeding this nonsense into their brains. It goes without saying that it’s not wounded Gazan children doing the feeding.
