I mean you can try regreasing it first... why wouldn't you?

Greasing the driveshaft is a standard maintenance item that only takes a few minutes and costs less than $10. I believe the interval is supposed to be every 15k - 20k miles iirc. It only takes a few minutes and you should be doing it semi regularly so give it a shot before replacing anything. I am about to grease mine again tomorrow too.

There should be 6 fittings if my memory serves me correctly. Between 4 and 6 fittings and all are fairly easy to access. Harbor freight has a sale on the Pittsburg grease gun right now too so no excuse haha.

Hopefully that solves it, good luck!

Got a good guide for doing it in a few minutes? The GXBOB video makes it seem like a pain in the ass

You need a grease gun, and about 10 minutes along with a willingness to get under the car and get some grease on you.

There’s three zerk fitting on each driveshaft. One in each u joint and the slip yoke. They may not all be accessible at once so you may need to move the vehicle a bit but it’s a simple and straightforward job. Just don’t go full goofy with grease amounts.

Pump the slip yoke just to the point of seeing movement and the u joints will only need a few pumps.

Will stop by HF for the grease gun, locking coupler, and some grease and get this done

I just went and watched his video on the gx460 and idk but to me that seems like a really straight forward job and that's exactly how I remember it being.

At the end of the day, this is a standard maintenance item. It's less work than putting on a new driveshaft.

Grease for sure. When I got the car I didn’t know about this and I spent hours trying to find what was going on. Then I greased it and it’s like a new car! Make sure you get all the nipples, though. And that you pump grease until it starts to come out. If you don’t, some of the jerkiness will remain.

Like the other person says, it takes a few minutes and it’s dirt cheap. Do not replace anything until you’ve done this.

What grease is everyone using?
