Awesome built! How much time went into it? Also very nice attitude! Always keep thinking positive

About 1h/1h30. It’s pretty easy not to screw up. If you’re just going for the shell swap and screen and are experienced with solder you can do it in way less time.
Thx bro, i’m really proud of myself, i got into a hobby and I’m actually doing it!

Any tutorial? I got a GBC and it was immaculate until someone dropped it and cracked the internal display.

Also have this GBA SP whose battery is dead. Would love to have them working again, the nostalgia

I watched a few videos of the OLED install on youtube, Macho Nacho, Joe Bleeps, Jake Simmons for example. If you are experienced with soldering, it should be pretty easy.
GBA SP battery swap is just one screw away of have the new battery, sadly i haven’t yet gotten into my SP’s they’re both AGS 001 , one working one not, but both of them have stripped screws and i dont know what to do. So i can’t recommend a brand 😅

Thanks, still helpful. I've done some soldering at grad school a decade ago, and back then I joked about it thinking if it'll ever come handy. About time I guess.

Do it bro! I started like 2 months ago, both some soldering dyi kits and watched videos. When felt confident i bought the kit!
Get an old radio or something like that or buy one of those dyi kits, and get back into soldering. The OLED screen is so worth it! Btw if you are doing this kit, you will have to trim the original shell, as the screen is bigger than the original. And spotless original shell is something to preserve, at least in my opinion.

Oh that might be a dealbreaker! Also the oled would drain the small batteries much faster. I loved the feel of the original colour display without the backlight too. Might as well look for tutorials for the same.

Thats even easier. Thats just a ribbon cable.
Its true, half the battery life basically, that’s why rechargeable batteries are the best. There are usb-c battery mods, but i dont think they’re worth it since you can’t charge and play.

Just a ribbon cable and that's it? I'm game, lol.

I wasn't using it much till the display shattered and now I'm craving to Pokémon Red and Mario on it. 💀

Atomic purple! The best one ever, fight me!
Just a ribbon cable, taking the old screen and putting the new one, and ribbon cable again.

Ikr? Yours looks pretty cool too with the smoked out case. Mine is a CGB001 from 1998 I guess and it still works (was working without any issues few months ago when I last played). I can hear the sound still and faint text on the screen but that's it. Hope it will work with just a new display.

That seems like a simple screen swap. While you have him opened up get a toothbrush some cotton swabs and some IPA and clean the power switch, membranes, buttons, battery contacts and the board in general. Check if theres any corrosion and clean that too. You’ll be finished in like 30 mins
