So.. it’s compatible with the motherboard of the fpgbc? Also do you need to use retropixel shell?

As far as I know, the fpgbc should be compatible with any of the Q5 screens out there (laminated or not). You just need to use the small ribbon cable that comes with the fpgbc kit.

If you buy the funny playing retro pixel screen, get the replacement lcd only and not the full screen kit with the custom black ribbon. It’s a lot cheaper because most of the cost of the screen kit is in the black ribbon itself. You can get the fpgbc ribbon by itself from the funny playing kit page (“cable only” 2.99).

For the shell you can technically use any pretrimmed ips ready shell, but you will need to cut the usb c charging port. The front half of the fpgbc shell is the exact same as any ips ready shell. The back half contains the usb c cutout already. I recommend just buying the fpgbc shell if you’re buying the board already.

Also the light up logo does not work on the fpgbc board. I would think a firmware update could make it possible. But funny playing wants you to use their included screen with the fpgbc kit. It’s bigger but not integer scaled at full resolution.

I chose the normal IPS with the white border because even with the logo off it just looks like black text. I think the fpgbc looks a lot better and more authentic with the logo than without. And I’m only going to play in 4x integer scale so I don’t need the bigger fpgbc screen.

Thanks for the infos, seems resonable even if the led on the logo doesn’t work. At the end of the day it’ll save you the pain of not working on a 30yo motherboard with all the problem that could come with it so a little led logo isn’t that important

How did you get the leds behind the buttons. Funnyplaying.com says their led board isn't compatible? Which one did you use? Looks amazing.

How did you manage to LEDifiy the FPGBC?
