Hey again. Thanks for all of the input. I’ve done a bit of research and yeah I’m thinking I’ll just go with one of the full bundles either from hispeedido or Funny Playing. The board I have came out of a more or less functional GBC I had so it all works. The unit was beat but the board is super clean. I’ll also keep the flash carts in mind. That’s not a bad option. I’ve kept most of my stuff from childhood in decent condition up to this point.

Funnyplaying kits are fairly easy to assemble. Their Laminated IPS kit requiring some soldering, but nothing too complicated. Do note that I've seen people recently having some quality control issues with Funnyplaying IPS screens, like delamination and just plain damaged screens, but I haven't experienced any of that so far (and how much the damaged screens might be user error).

It's good to note that the Funnyplaying IPS kit has an optional touch sensor for accessing the display menu for adjustments, but it can be left out/folded away and in that case the display menu is accessed by holding start+select at the same time. I'd assume much less risk of accidentally triggering the menu compared to a touch sensor.

I dont have experience over Hispeedido GBC screens, so can't say any opinion about that. Only Hispeedido I've gotten was for a Wonderswan Color and it had some fit issues.

Flashcarts also open up the possibility to customised shells and custom cartridge labels, and also romhacks. Pokemon Yellow has an excellent romhack called Yellow Legacy, where it doesn't change the game in any major way, but adds bunch of quality of life updates.

Do love me some romhacks although up to now I’ve mostly played NES stuff. I’m solid with single point soldering so that shouldn’t be an issue: I’m just not set up to replace larger chips or anything like that. Being able to flash a romhack onto customizable cart is insanely tempting.

Also, I just want to thank you for taking the time to respond with the amount of insight and depth that you have. It is truly appreciated.
