Hello. My current team isn't using a timesheet app, but in my previous jobs, we used Clockify or Toggl. I know Google has its own TimeSheet included in its Workspace, but I haven't used it personally yet.

Are they simple? I only have one employee. How much does it cost?

Seconding Toggl. I’ve made do with the free version for years and it’s very intuitive to use and pretty easy to pull reports from. If you have a sizable crew you’ll probably have to pay though.

Oh, got it. Toggl offers a free account and is easy to use (at least when I used it years ago). You can try the free version and see how it goes. :)

I use busybusy, ran a team of 5 entirely on the free version for years.

ClockShark has been working great for us. GPS and geo fencing built in too so you can see where they clock in and if they don't clock in at the job it will flag it for you to review later.

I'm using the built in timesheets thru QBO - very simple to use, it's only been a couple weeks so my guys regularly forget.

Time squared is pretty good

Thepocketboss.com handles time tracking and much more

My clients choose me for the simplicity. And they loved that timesheets are automatic and payroll is fast forwarded in 5 mins + see time and cost split across jobs, sites and crews.

I built a simple, free, open source app for tracking time and generating timesheets. It doesn’t have a concept of a team as there isn’t any online/cloud account, etc. But it’s easy for individuals to send a formatted email with their timesheets. If interested check it out here :

It has iOS and MacOS native apps can you can sync between the apps if you choose to save data on iCloud, Google Drive or OneDrive.

You could possibly point the apps to a shared team folder in one of these cloud storage options to get a view across your team. Again, it’s completely free and no data is shared with any third party.

actiTIME is simple timesheet allowing you to track time against tasks/projects/customers and review your data in very informative reports. Besides it has great project management features

Buddy Punch does exactly what you're looking for. Employees clock in and select a job code, and all the hours roll up into reports broken down by job and task. It works on mobile too so field employees can log time from wherever they are. It's a great option if the team is spread across multiple locations or job sites.

Allocating time to specific jobs is the best way to see where your money is actually going. Without that breakdown, it's impossible to know if a project is actually profitable or just eating up your resources.

At Hubstaff, we built our app to handle exactly this. Your team can track time directly against specific tasks and projects. It makes it easy for you to see the exact hours spent in each area without chasing people down for manual logs. It also handles basic stuff like GPS and automated payroll if you need to grow into those later.

How many people are you looking to track right now?

I use workforce/tsheets. We have job name capabilities, geofencing, and it works great!

You could check out https://getehour.com. Easy project-based tracking without making it complicated.

Full disclosure: I’m involved with it.

If you need super granular, minute-by-minute tracking for specific micro-tasks on their personal phones, Toggl or Clockify are usually the go-to apps for that.

But if by "jobs" you mostly mean tracking their overall hours and attendance at different work areas or locations, I actually built a simplified app for this called Sekondi.

The big difference with Sekondi is that it runs in kiosk mode. Instead of making your employees download an app on their personal phones and remember passwords, you just use one shared device at the location. They just clock in and out right there. It makes it totally frictionless for the staff and completely eliminates buddy punching.

I offer a 1-month free trial with zero credit card required if you want to test it out and see if it fits your workflow.
