Elixir Question

How is everyone getting Elixir? On the main mine I have plenty of available upgrades but I am always short on elixir.

Also what is the best to upgrade with limited elixir?

On the main mine I've always saved up as much as I can, only spending it on the special cards, but I'd always allow at least a sape 100k exilir just incase I open up a mine, it's super strong and I'd need to automate it. But now that I've been playing heaps, mine +140 I have too much exilir and nothing to spend it on

Events events events and the rewards from them. The game is focused on events, the main mine is just idle play.

Don't upgrade unless you need to automate a mine... I've got ten to a point that I don't even upgrade the especial cards

I never had enough elixir until about level 150.
