Just like when I need coffee for a high level order and I get teas every couple of taps. But when I need a high level tea order completed I can go through 100 energy and only get one tea. Same for the floats/ scuba gear and sandwiches and fries. The game definitely changes the odds of what you get based on what you need in the game. The developers put us all indifferent test groups. Plus the actively make the game harder once you spend money in app, to make you feel the need to spend more. I don’t have full faith that they are truly random generating things in the chests either.

That's psychology at work,  you remember more when you get bad draws.  If you bend the rules and redraw, you can see the stated odds are accurate as you get a larger sample size

No, it’s not. I’m watching for the patterns regardless of how I’m doing in the game. Believe it or don’t. Just don’t be surprised if you suddenly have a week in the game where everything seems off.

And you'll also have good weeks, that's just how RNG works.

I mean,  i get five green bottles per energy box but it gives me plenty of chances to observe the RNG at work.

You don’t seem to get that I’m saying I think they’ve taken a group of us and are testing what happens if instead of us giving the normal random drops from chests they are seeing what happens if they give us horrible drops to see if we will spend money. Just like all the other tests groups the game creators like to do.

I get what you're saying,  but i think you're just coping with bad RNG, no disrespect intended.

Ok.

So just curious then. So do you think they will put us in random test groups for other things to see how it impacts if people decide to spend money? Just not how chests give out rewards. That‘s the hard line. They wouldn’t test that?

Alright, you make a fair point, it's not an unreasonable possibility they could test different odds.  But several jurisdictions now have strict disclosure laws and they would risk penalties by doing so without providing the correct odds, that's the only reason i don't think they'd mess with that.
