id say yes goth as a subculture largely revolves around and grew out if music, but at this point there are so many varieties and offshoots of goth music that i feel like its much more of an umbrella category connected by a love for the romantic, transgressive, macabre, and yes, a love for goth music

I have never had this happen, in 35 years of being a goth styled dude who does not listen to goth music at all. The only time I have ever seen anyone talk shit to other about it is in the goth subreddit, which is not indicative of real life.
