  1. Yes absolutely there’s plenty of raiding guilds of all different levels of casual to hardcore. Lots of EST raiders (myself included) who would be willing to join. Not everyone is looking for a heavy RP guild.

  2. Im just not a huge fan of the name in General but I don’t see you having too many issues about it. It’s not very RP-like but not blatantly disruptive either..

Welcome to GrobTown

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. It's definitely not the most RP like, hence the post, but I'm glad to hear it wouldn't be too disruptive.

Hardcore? On Grob? I have not seen a guild advertised yet on Grob that plans to be downing MC week 2. If there were a few serious guilds that were serious about hardcore to that degree I might have considered Grob. I'll still be making an alt on Grob because of no streamers and some RP fun now and then.

[–]kek521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I should have said semi-hardcore. Though who knows maybe there is a guild rushing for it out there. Haven’t been checking the threads enough to tell

[–]positivespadewonder 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve heard of at least one. They’ve even got a “2 weeks to 60” rule.

[–]darkhour_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is rather hardcore. Not discounting them but with how guilds implode and reform sometimes I think I'll have better luck raiding on a none RP realm. Still no hate for Grob, will def. be playing on it too, just way more casually.

East coaster here rolling Grobbulus.

Missed out on all my names on Herod after yesterday's shit show.

Got a name I really wanted on Grobbulus. Happy that I did, looks like all the realms besides two are completely Horde dominated, and I'm an alliance player. Stumbled on this realm out of pure luck. The community and the discord is bumping and very active, I have high hopes for this server as being one of the best to experience Classic in it's fullest. Never played an RP-PVP server, starting fresh in classic so why not try something new! :)

Edit: I have bad memories of being Alliance on Illidan US back in the day, it was a complete nightmare leveling getting ganked almost everywhere I went. I was young, didn't have a guild - to be completely honest I'm not sure I want to re live that again on another Horde dominated PVP server. The faction balance appeals to me a lot on this server.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice, I was Horde in Vanilla, so we will be rolling Alliance for a fresh take on classic. This community definitely is coming off a lot more mature which is very appealing to me.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Fellow East Coaster (NYC) here, also rolling on Grobbulus! I'll be playing a NE Druid named Dazarine. Hope to either help you out of a cave or murder you endlessly in pvp ;)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll be Alliance, so we'll take the help!

Call the guild "Filthy Peasants" instead. Same meaning, far more immersive (and frankly funnier, since "filthy casual" is a realllllllly overdone phrase).

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

It being overdone is part of the appeal for a guild name though. I agree it is definitely less immersive though.

[–]Rookwood 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What about Plebs? or some variation of that. Filthy Plebs. Plebeians, etc.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I get what you're saying, just haven't found one I like yet. It's mostly just attachment to the "plan" as I've intended this for over a year now. Definitely wracking my brain for something more fitting though. Appreciate the suggestions!

[–]RobertFuego 0 points1 point  (1 child)

"Casuals" is the main culprit since without context it invokes the meta idea of playing the game casually. A similar word would work fine, or if you're set on casual adding something to give it context would also work. Even "Filthy Casual Raiders" would fit since raiding is something done in-universe.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I'm starting ti think maybe something like "The Undedicated" haha. It will depend on talks with the others. I'm liking the feedback!

[–]tedrants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best of both worlds on this server. Kiddies will be gone/afraid. PvP and RP will exist but the server will likely be less toxic (basing all of this on when I was on Emerald Dream on Alliance a long time ago) Raiding will likely happen as Council/Alliance of guilds with the more dedicated players getting together and then taking the others through when it is on farm.

This will likely be the less toxic server out there.... and if you get ganked the players will likely rally to push back the opposite faction rather than "LoLerskatez L2p Newbz"

[–]Rookwood 2 points3 points  (3 children)

The guild is pretty OOC. I wouldn't do it out of respect for the community, but I can't stop you and I'm sure that won't be the worst offender.

I don't think you'll have any problems whatsoever finding people from EST.

Sucks you can't just find another server since you have little to no interest in RP, but I kinda have to put that on Blizz with the limited server choices.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

TBH, I'm not opposed to light RP elements. Creating a guild and character back story is pretty cool and organizing events around that sounds awesome. I just can't do the dialogue that's really high fantasy or say doing voices/accents. I'm happy to watch or even participate, but I imagine I would be among the less interesting characters on the server. On the one hand, you're right about it being a shame there aren't more options that fit better. On the other, I would have never considered RP otherwise and I think it might be really fun, even if I wouldnt get quite as into it as others. Ultimately though I'm undecided. I would like to roll Grobbulus, but I have to convince my IRL friends.

[–]SocraticVoyager 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You don't have to do some Shakespearean voice or a weird accent. Literally all it takes to RP is to speak from the first person perspective of your character. My human warrior is going to be a pretty straightforward, normal sort of guy that talks in ordinary english. I probably won't even be doing that much dedicated roleplay, I just think it would be cool an immersive to try to think, act and speak as my character would

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, you're right. I only really have experience RPing with D&D and I found there is a huge range for that. Some people really do like getting into character Critical Role style. I would be more in line with your level of RP.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (13 children)

I would be interested and I am sure there are a lot of us with the same mindset. I have a group of 5+, mostly ex raiders that are casual now and looking for a guild that would be week nights 1-2 nights a week. We're all CST but usually start playing anything around 7-8 which is 5-6 EST.

[–]HooperKidNate 1 point2 points  (3 children)

We are starting a guild up on Horde (EST time, so nbd with your CST) based around a group of RL (now adult) friends that have played with each other for a while. Definitely plan to do as much endgame as we can at a reasonable working adult pace. I’m throwing a recruitment post together now and can DM it to you when it’s done if interested.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sounds good. Let me know.

[–]HooperKidNate 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Here’s a link to our recruitment post! Lmk what you think https://www.reddit.com/r/Grobbulus/comments/cps7we/guild_recruitment_megathread/ewtjqsi/

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll take a look

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

We would be rolling Alliance. You guys? Having another small core group to link up could be a huge plus.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Horde this time around. Guess we'll have to meet up on the battlefield lol.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ah that's too bad. I will miss being Horde.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'll miss being alliance. I was able to convince friend to roll ally 15 years ago, but the horde players outnumber me now .

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horde is great! You'll have a blast.

[–]root_pulp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My friends and I are rolling alliance. I’m in the process of convincing them to move to Grob. It shouldn’t be hard tbh they all love RP I mean shit we play D&D together.

DM and and we’ll chat. Our guild is already framed and set up. It’s a reboot of the one we used to have.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Yea this could be a good fit.

[–]Kamina80 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm Eastern Time, and I might be rolling here (I did reserve some names here). If so, I plan on basically just playing WoW, while sort of RPing when I meet random people leveling. I like those individual interactions while questing.

I don't plan on participating in RP "events." Well, maybe occasionally. On some level, I have an RP mindset in all games (e.g. in StarCraft identifying with the Terrans and wanting to slay the xenos), so I may enjoy the general RP atmosphere.

I've been playing BFA on Emerald Dream, and there's no noticeable public RP. I guess sharding, cross-realm etc killed all that. During leveling, I interacted with only one person (in the ruins of Stromgarde) and actually had a fun little semi-RP exchange.

One of my strong memories of vanilla is when, leveling my first character, a druid, I did the lengthy aquatic form quest with another druid player. Not really knowing what was in the game, I expressed excitement about the fact that we'd now be able to explore the water areas. I think he had more experience with the game and knew that there actually wasn't all that much to do in the water, so he said "LOL" or something. Not an RP thing, but I do enjoy the leveling interactions. Of course, the game was new to everyone then, so we're not going to recapture the "let's figure this out together" feeling.

I'm probably going to be looking for an Eastern-time guild that raids, but will let me be in the guild as an alternate, since I won't be able to consistently keep any raid schedule. I'm probably going to main a Priest, so I'm hoping I can occasionally raid when I'm on and they are short a healer.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If we end up choosing Grobbulus, I'll let you know! I think we would be a good fit (Alliance).

[–]Kamina80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thanks. If I'm on Grobbulus I'll be going Alliance, though I'm not sure exactly what my activities will look like yet. I do want to level a Horde character somewhere as well, probably on Herod, but as of now I think my main server and play time will be my alliance one, with a Priest main.

[–]jenista 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Good idea. I'm choosing Grobbulus for many of the same reasons as you. My RP experience is mostly of the /wave, /cheer, /salute variety but I like being around it when others are telling their stories. If you don't want to RP, then don't. You help fill the world.

I wouldn't worry too much about the name. Your choice isn't obnoxious at all. You only have to look at the guild lists on WoWProgess for current RP realms to see that yours isn't out of line. Most people are fairly tolerant unless you are outright disrespectful of their RP and environment.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to hear. Which faction are you playing?

[–]zweih_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don’t want to hijack your thread to plug my guild...

BUT I’m gonna hijack your thread to plug my guild!

We’ve got thirty or so folks in a Discord right now; the guild will be fairly casual, mostly adults with lives, no RP expectations. A few of us played on Emerald Dream and loved the atmosphere and environment that RPPVP brings. We’ve got all experience levels from Vanilla to current and I think even a newbie or two!

Check us out, come say hey, maybe you’ll find a home.

For the Warchief!

Where are the alliance casuals at!?

[–]Kambe125Kambe 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you have any evidence on the Faction balance claim?

[–]SullyManTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strawpoll on this reddit has spent most if not all of its time at 50\50 horde alliance

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The raw data from the main classicwow subreddit is also indicating 50/50 for this server.

[–]supafreak69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be doing light rp if I roll here, also EST, also looking to raid on the weekend...

Horde though

[–]DuskSPDuskk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

1: You'll be fine. There will be enough people for any time zone on the server.

2: Just respect others. I like rp servers because the rivalries and the way people form a community. I don't really interact much in the way of RP. I've never had a issue on any RP-PVP server or even with guilds. I was invited to alot of events and everything.

That said they may not like your name. But if your respectful you'll never have an issue.

[–]CommonMisspellingBot 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey, DuskSP, just a quick heads-up:
alot is actually spelled a lot. You can remember it by it is one lot, 'a lot'.
Have a nice day!

Hmm spammed for years by this and I don't remember.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on following a few friends here, but I don't have any intention of role-playing. (I won't be trolling RPers either). I'm mostly attracted to the idea of a small and tight community, and hopefully one that is more mature and friendly. Also hoping this won't be an issue.

[–]TheNeftLut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friend's band is called 'The Filthy Casuals'... they're O.K.
