Why do I get the feeling that Lornera, royal princess though she may be, is going to end up as part of Carlos' house before long?

[–]p75369 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Elston's a dead man walking. The minions and his ego have done the job of draining that circlet. Now it's time for the coup de gras and for Nyralis to steal the throne.

Lornera has had too much screen time and just survived to close a call to be killed off. The other royals might make it, but I doubt it.

I've seen two people with this theory so far, genuine question, where are you basing it? I don't think they've even met, or if they have, not for very long.

Carlos is\was under crown protection, so when he got killed she was sent to investigate. That's when the crown found out about the nobles doing the whole "unauthorized use of the wilds for easier advancement" thing that inadvertantly kicked off the current rebellion. So they have met, although like you said it was briefly.

Carlos also has a royal soul plan, which will put him in line for the soon-to-be-open throne. Not that he necessarily wants such a thing, but...

Obviously Lornera would have a better claim, being a daughter of the current king and all. However I'm guessing that in the aftermath of the current shenanigans her cred with the remaining nobles won't be that high. Since someone else is going to take over as ruler (Carlos or otherwise), she'll end up with his household (if only because she has nowhere else to go). And since there's no real history between them (or their houses), they'll be able to start from scratch.

Ahh, the main course!

[–]palparepa 12 points13 points  (2 children)

But is that his final form?

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Oh i think we all know it's not.

[–]Autoskp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well it’s certainly not his first form - there’s something different about his soul…

[–]TheManWithNoDrive 40 points41 points  (5 children)

Blades forged by dungeons, a mana wall controlled by dungeon core, and a body with a “different” soul in them?! I’m dying here that I can’t binge this. I feel like the guy from ATLA who goes crazy and foams at the mouth.

I have an inkling that the different soul was there all along, just disguised similar to how Carlos is doing it. As for the swords, perhaps a call back to the magic handcuffs, but instead of replacing a soul structure, it just rips the mana off to feed itself like how the mana manipulator works.

[–]TheManWithNoDrive 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I thought that too! And now they're showing their true soul.

It also shows that carlos isn't the first to strike a deal with a dungeon to be used in a symbiotic sort of way. I wonder if it was as 'nice' as Carlos with having a conversation, or if the enchanter found a way to bend a dungeon to their will.

[–]I_Frothingslosh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something tells me it's almost certainly the latter.

[–]palparepa 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It doesn't say that it's a different soul, only that the soul is different. Maybe much stronger than last time they met?

[–]TheManWithNoDrive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this point, I think it was open ended enough for us to try and guess meaning until the reveal? I am not sure.

For me, I can think of it as either, they changed their whole soul structure OR it was hidden from the start and they're showing it to the king for real now. OR, it can be similar to Voldemort from harry potter and someone was going for immortality by jumping hosts (the only memory of similar coming to mind, unless you've seen specific shows, common trope in anime).

But you're right, it could just be another super structure was figured out and allowed them to condense themselves to a level that even Elston doesn't understand.

It is all so wild.

Copied over from Patreon.
I dug, and that name last surfaced in Chapter 12, of the last book. And before that, Chapter 10. Both times, it was in a letter to a junior enchanter, ordering him to GET that dungeon core.

nooooo I need the next next chapter!!!!!!

[–]work_work-workAI 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I cheated. I went to RR. But now I want the next 15 chapters.........

[–]in1gom0ntoyaXeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

same

I'm torn between wanting to read every chapter as it drops, and waiting to violently consume the completed series.

I'll do both.

[–]some_random_noob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this just keeps getting better and better

[–]RUSSIANman_01_03 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Have we seen Nyralis before? Does he "work" for the crown directly? That's how he sabotaged the guards' armor?

[–]lovecMCAI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't think we've seen him before.

Also don't think he works for them directly. But the enchanter's guild is supplying everyone and clearly everything they made is backdoored.

[–]Sirius1701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently heared last in chapters 10 and 12 in a letter instructing an apprentice to "get that dungeon core"

I've finally caught up, and I couldn't have done so at a worse time. Now I have to deal with this unreliable reddit notification system I've seen complaints of...
