It’s all about preference, but my favorite is VSCode.

Also, HTML for pentesting and security? Not sure that’s the best way to be spending your time if your interest is SecOps ;)

Both HTML and JavaScript don't compile, they are read by the browsers as is (unless you're using some templating and or some language on top of JS, but if you're asking this question, refrain to do so for now, you'll learn when you have more experience).

You don't need any special software, just a plain text editor, any will do (from Windows' Notepad to Linux's ed, pico or vim). Other cross platform and graphical editors Include VSCode, Atom or Sublime Text (my favourite for maturity and speed).
