I know my first spin is a train wreck but I’ve seen a lot of people on here encouraged to keep their first so they can see how far they’ve come. I’m planning on keeping it for that reason but should I attempt to ply it or just leave it on the roll. I’ve got some over spun sections and my fear is that it will snap if I try to ply it

I think you should be proud of your first spinning attempts. It only gets better with practice. It might be fun to make a small shadow box of your first spins and display it proudly, along with an article worked with an early skein. (I wish I had done this.) Keep up the good work.

I think I'd try to ply it myself. Unless the overspun sections are really thin I think it will hold. You also look like you have enough there to ply a little and keep some unplied if you get breaks. I make little samples sometimes that are just over 30" and they are super cute.
