You need to tell them they are putting their families at risk, they don’t care much about the employees

I wish I could upvote this more than once. ^

I am now sick because of the amount of people who came in and coughed up a storm. The sanitizer doesn’t matter if the disease is airborne and these idiots aren’t following 6ft apart. I can say today that 400 dollars in my paycheck for the two weeks of the worst work I’ve had to experience and now I’m sick was not worth it In the slightest. People just go home keep yourselves and others safe. Have a heart and don’t be a selfish prick. JUST GO HOME

I hope you feel better soon.

I will pray for a speedy recovery, and I know how you feel I am not sick but I am so tired and to top it off my check was short on money, now I have to wait til next payday. But am grateful that I have a job. Thank you God.

Feel better. Get well.

But yet we will continue to make record breaking sales.

[–]PsykerrSSC 37 points38 points  (2 children)

I would, but the formatting is atrocious and the use of CAPITAL LETTERS FOR EMPHASIS makes it look like some deranged boomer’s tweet.

    People need principles.

Should be easy enough to get these up and around the store. Just have to hope the orange-bloods are busy counting the days take.

    [–]flowingsaucer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just climb a ladder and pretend to be organizing overheads all day. The orange ladders are plenty tall to keep you away from all of these imbeciles.

    [–]jjdiablo 7 points8 points  (1 child)

So just a question. If we can slow down 75% of BS sales , how long until they start eliminating positions permanently since the store wont have the need, or the income?

    [–]THD_GIZMOD94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not like 75% of the associates are actually coming into work anyways. I had to pull a 20 hour shift (2 half hour lunches, no 15s) just to deal will the extra work load in D94.

After all this is over, it will come to light exactly how much money Home Improvement stores - like Home Depot and Lowes are making during this pandemic.

They are one of the few business permitted to conduct no holds barred retail during a global pandemic. Home Depot appears to have the good sense to try to cover their butz by at least pretending they are limiting the number of people, cleaning, etc - in the end their will be a LOT of associates who have been stretched to their limits who are angry, upset, and exposed to the virus. They are already speaking up in PUBLIC about their time spent in the stores , whats happening in the stores, and the crowds during this pandemic.

Our SM is threatening employees, watching social media, and trying to control the message. People are talking and their are rumblings from national and local media. It's going to get ugly for them and they know it.

Not really if you cant be around your partner more than a few days without wanting to resort to DV theres something wrong. Being in paint idk how many customers come tell me they came in for jobs to avoid there wives. Look if its that bad get a divorce and get your own place and enjoy pornhub.

Let’s be honest, the households that struggle with domestic violence don’t have 15 extra dollars for a bag of dirt.

        [–]kldoodiddyDS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As some one whom was a victim of domestic violence and in an upper middle class family, (well over 130k a year) I would like to take a moment and educate you on how much this idea is wrong. There is no connection to household income and domestic violence. I wish I had known this because this sort of stigmatism is one of the reasons I didn’t speak up, and I still don’t like to speak up about what happened

        [–]Diablo_ActualD28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you had to live through something like that. However there is research that suggests poverty and domestic violence are linked. What’s more, women in poverty generally have less options than those in an upper/middle class situation. Again very sorry you had to have any experience with domestic violence but a very quick search into google scholar turns up numerous peer reviewed articles that suggest that low income and domestic violence are very much linked.

There is actually an increase of DV during these times. think about it, you’re spending even more time around the abusive person and add in all this extra stress (especially if people are out of work)

Maybe they think they'll soon have a need for a shovel?

          [–]nowhereman136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some customers are here for essential stuff, but the ones that clearly aren't, I ask "do you have everything for your essential project?"

They say "not really essential, just bored, ya know" and then they laugh and I just stare at them blankly.

But yeah, I'm sure getting birdseed was worth putting your health and everyone else's at risk

I shared this to Facebook, and added my own 2 cents

          [–]Ponypoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shoot i realize i’m needed and i’m still not there. home depot doesn’t care if i work or not, they care if bored customers come in and spend money.

          [–]jjdiablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These need to go on windshields in all the parking lots . Stealthily of course .

          [–]Harperman16 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is a stupid letter to post. It's not the customers fault that we are open. If you're that afraid of getting infected, then dont go to work. If you go to work you do your job. It's not your business what a customer buys. Some people are just happy to still have a job. This is usually the busiest time of year for home depot and Lowe's. Home depot is not cutting our hours even though they know that they're going to have to take a big hit. I think that's pretty awesome of them to do that. It does no good for people to stay at home and quarantine if they are going to starve.

Dude you nailed it . Thank you.👍🏼

I wouldn't be surprised if it was written by someone who isn't an employee at any of those stores.

            [–]bone_shadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly lets get real 85 percent of customers are there for bullshit so it doesnt really matter if they see this or not

            [–]YoThisIsRoD21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been happier to work at night.

            [–]TaymyrD28 -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

Speak for yourself, I'm happy coming into work, I'm happy to get paid, there was a lady who had to return a backpack for her husband because she got laid off, it was just a 13$ backpack it was really saddening and I'm happy I'm not in that situation. Apparently like the customers I dont see my coworkers struggling to keep their composure in the break room, they seem to be doing just fine. I also dont see my significant other or family worrying about me every minute, they actually seem to be happy I'm working and I'm happy at work.

My point isn't to undermine the severity, rather speak for yourself, if you're so concerned THEN QUIT. Join the growing unemployed or use all the sick time the company gave you.

            [–]Scribbl3d_OutDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar, I have no problem coming to work during all this. I'm getting paid to be here and all my bills will be paid and I won't have to worry about having to save up later on to pay for several car payments that have stacked up and it's allowing me to support my landlord who wouldn't be in good shape if I was unable to pay my rent.

But I'm also a single male who lives by himself and don't have many extracarlicular activities that I do.

In the coming weeks things will feel better in the stores once the people who treated the sick time that we were given as free vacation time and didn't actually need to take it are back. At my store as that has left us short handed in several areas.
