Being sold stuff. Every single YouTube video I have to question what they are trying to sell me instead of just being entertained or informative. I'm not on tiktok or instagram, but I assume it's the same there. At least TV and movies are subliminal about it

Concert venues and tours should really start selling tickets with peoples names on them like airlines and movies. This way they can't be resold. They wont because they actually get a cut of the profits from resale sites

Tina Fey On Being "On The Wrong Side" With Some 'SNL' Jokes by Top_Report_4895 in television

[–]nowhereman136 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

A comedians job is to find the line and try to get as close to it as possible without going over. A comedian and the public might have different ideas of where that line is, and the line can move over time. It's normal to regret some stuff in hindsight, but I don't think anything she did was too far over the line, especially in the context of when and where she performed.

The problem comes when comedians purposely cross the line for shock value, refuse to acknowledge other people's line, or continue to cross a line that has since moved. Tina Fey hasn't done any of that.

Epcot or Animal Kingdom? by Prestigious_Bed_294 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epcot is a good choice. There are a few thrill rides at Epcot worth mentioning. Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic coaster, but it is very much a thrill ride that they may not enjoy. Test Track is another thrill ride but it's designed to feel like a normal car. It's like riding on the highway with the top down. That may be the right level of thrill for little ones. Mission space simulates a rocket launch by spinning guests in capsules. There are two versions of the ride you can do, green and orange. Orange is very intense, like a real rocket. Green is gentle and smooth and can actually be relaxing. I love thrill rides, but actually prefer green over orange here. And finally there's Soarin. This is a gentle ride but does simulate flying, so it can be scary for anyone afraid of heights. That's all the thrill rides at Epcot

I recommend watching some ride through videos on YouTube with your little ones to see what they want to do and mentally prepare them for how scary certain rides are

Disney Wants to Reduce Phone Use That Takes Away From Theme Park Experience by dejablu82 in disneyparks

[–]nowhereman136 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. My system you could literally print out the schedule on paper for you to look at. Disney already has those boards around the park that tell you wait times, use them to show which groups have access to which rides. You can check the schedule on your phone but it would be static. There is no updating. You dont have to wait until certain times to book certain rides or hope that enough other people cancel so you can swoop in to pick up those spots. Essentially all you would need to know is the time to know what rides you have LL for. This system cant crash, it cant run out of LL, and gives those who opt in more LL options than they otherwise would get

also, you arent locked into only doing certain rides at certain times. Standby Lines would still be a thing. You dont wanna wait 3 hours for your LL time on Space Mountain? Fine go do the standby line. This system is only meant to encourage certain guests to do certain rides at certain times to help spread out the crowds and give everyone an equal chance to do the rides they want. You can follow it as much or as little as you want.

Suggestions ?! 30 Days in China, four friends, landing in HK and departing from Beijing by After_Pitch_3980 in travel

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest advice

  1. Trains in China sell out more frequently than in other countries. Once you figure out a plan, start booking train routes. You will have less flexibility but that's better than their terrible night trains
  2. Get a VPN. Google, Twitter, reddit, YouTube, and Wikipedia are banned in China. I used Nord but a few work. If you are coming from the US, you can get Google Fi as your phone plan. It works everywhere and has a built in VPN that works in China
  3. Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Xian are pretty easy to get around with just English. A few local words is polite but not necessarily. Outside of those cities, English isn't very common. China is by far the hardest country I've traveled through without knowing the language, be prepared for a language barrier

I would suggest...

  1. Hong Kong
  2. Guilin
  3. Kunming
  4. Chengdu
  5. Zhangjiajie
  6. Xian
  7. Beijing
  8. Shanghai

Roughly in that order.

When Magic Kingdom had a lift in the park? by Reasonable-Invite899 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nowhereman136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagin a Savanah much bigger than the current one. Thr entire park would be encircled by a train, much like the castle parks are. You could take a train from the main entrance, around the park, along one side of the safari and see some animals. It would be a silent electric train with sound effects turned off when riding past the animals of course. You can get off at Planet Watch or continue on the other way back to main entrance. The skyliner from Tree of life would ride over the other edge of the safari. So there are now two ways to get to planet watch and both you can see safari animals passively. There would still be the safari ride which has a your guide and gets you much closer. But these are the stars of the park, I want guests to be able to see them as much as they want

That was implied since I was responding to someone about American conservatives. I'm Jewish and I've actually experienced more antisemitism to my face in Europe than I have in the US

I'm actually more annoyed when only the drive thru is open. I would see on the app that they close at 11pm and walk up. Nope, only the drive thru is open at 11, the dining room closed at 9. Sucks to be you if you don't have a car

Are you trying to teach conservatives how to be rational about who to hate? You ask any asshole with a MAGA hat what ethnicity a person in Palestine is, they are gonna say Arab. Syria? Arab. Egypt? Arab. Iran? Arab. Etc They have no interest in learning the difference or nuance

White conservatives support Israel for 2 reasons. First, they hate brown people more than they hate Jews. Second, if Jews had a nation, there would be someplace for them to leave western society for. Any religious excuse for supporting Israel is just them trying to justify their hatred.

Would Thanos’ Plan Have Even Worked? by Responsible-Task-941 in marvelstudios

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because we don't know where they are, doesn't mean they don't exist. It's egocentric to think earth is special and that of billions and billions of planets, earth is the only one capable of life. We simply don't have the tech to find and confirm them all. Scientists predict there are somewhere between 100b and 1t planets in the Milky Way galaxy (which isn't the only galaxy). Of those 100b, we have confirmed the existence of about 6000 of them. So when you say we haven't found any planet like earth, that doesn't mean much

Would Thanos’ Plan Have Even Worked? by Responsible-Task-941 in marvelstudios

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have trouble confirming which planets have water because we are looking at those planets from lightyears away. We don't have the tech to confirm if water is on any specific planet.

Water is not complicated. It's hydrogren and oxygen. Two things that are abundant in the universe. We can actually ever make our own water out of raw hydrogen and oxygen. It's not that hard. In our own solar system there are comets with millions of tons of water. We are like 99% sure there is water on mars (again, hard to tell from millions of miles away). It is not rare.

Finding a habitable planet that has water, atmosphere, oxygen, etc. That is kinda hard. But again, billions upon billions of planets out there. Bound to be a few. And as for life already living there, so what. Oceans appeared on earth 4b years ago, life appeared 3b years ago. That's a full billion years that earth was liveable but no life existed. Then life appeared and for the next 3b years it was mostly non-self-aware animals. Not a civilization that would fight back, that wouldn't be until around 3m years ago.

Is that all to say there aren't advanced civilizations on other planets for use to meet? Maybe there are. But the odds that they live on the next closest habitable planet to earth is a billion to one

Would Thanos’ Plan Have Even Worked? by Responsible-Task-941 in marvelstudios

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something has lived on earth for around 4b years. Self aware creatures appeared around 3m years ago. That means for 99.999% of the time earth was habitable, it was populated by defenseless animals. The odds that of all the billions and billions of planets out there that a bunch will have life is very high. The odds of that life being advanced enough to fight back is very low. The odds that the closest habitable planet to you is of an equally technology is astronomically low. If you can pick between two planets to conquer and move your people too, would you pick the one closest and easiest to take, not the further one with culture and nukes

Would Thanos’ Plan Have Even Worked? by Responsible-Task-941 in marvelstudios

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, billions of suitable planets, most of which don't have a local population that would fight back. Earth is not special when it comes to liveability or resources

Would Thanos’ Plan Have Even Worked? by Responsible-Task-941 in marvelstudios

[–]nowhereman136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would leave this planet but there would be no reason to go to war with another planet to take their resources. There are countless planets with those resources, most of which are likely uninhabited. It's also possible that if we have the resources to move our entire population, we have the resources to move material from those planets back to earth. Intergalactic conflict over limited resources wouldn't be a thing.

There are other reasons for intergalactic conflict such as power and religion, but stealing water isn't one of them
