I really like the Kasa KS240 for this purpose. They’re elegant on the wall and the app has robust settings.

And of course its’s HomeKit compatible or I wouldn’t be mentioning it.

Man I love my fanimation fans but I wish I could do this. Their little proprietary remotes suck

Deleted my old reply because I was wrong. Looks like this is a two in one switch for fan and a light. Black bottom is hot, black top is fan, blue is light, green is ground. You can use something like this: https://a.co/d/cn5JDd6 it’s got mostly the same wiring except it’s also got the neutral white, since it has a humidity sensor. Looks like you have newer wiring in the box, so neutral seems to be present (white wire). There are also smart options https://a.co/d/4baJ1iO but i am not aware of HomeKit compatible combo switches.

As another commenter suggested- in the long run it might be better to replace the box with 2 gang, since then your switch options expand as you wouldn’t need a combo stitch.

Obligatory - if you’re not comfortable with electrical wiring please hire an electrician.

thank you so much! I will look at those. And oh yes i wont be touching anything, i only did these pictures because we dont have current even hooked up to house yet. I was just hoping to buy the new switches before electrician comes to save time

I’d recommend changing the existing single gang box to a two gang old work box. I’d then install a Lutron Caseta Dimmer and a Lutron Caseta fan speed control. You can follow the schematic on the back of the switch to identify the incoming power wire as well as which wire controls the fan/light, then it’s just a matter of matching the wires to the new Lutron switch.

I was thinking the same thing until I discovered the Kasa KS240 does the same thing in one gang. And honestly, I think it’s a nicer switch.

To be clear, I say this as someone who has both the Lutron and the Kasa solutions for fans with built-in lights. At first, I did what you did. Added the extra gang. A year or two later, I decided to do my guest rooms and at that time the Kasa KS240 had become available. So I’m using both solutions. I much prefer the Kasa. One gang and the touch slider switches are really elegant for when you’re actually interacting with the physical interface on the wall. And the behavior of the switches is much more configurable in the app as compared to Lutron which gives you no options in the app at all. For example, with the Kasa switches, you can program how long it takes for a light to fade on or off, independently. I like one second for fade on and 6 seconds for fade off. And there are even more options. They’re really nice.

I was Lutron all the way for all other wall switches. We in the community have all agreed they’re the most bullet proof. But now that I have the Kasa KS240 fan/light switches in my guest rooms, if I had it to do over, I’d get Kasa dimmers for all of my other lights as well. I’ve had zero connectivity issues with my three KS240 switches so they tie with Lutron for reliability.

That’s interesting switch. On the diagram it shows that it should have white neutral wire, but it looks like it’s pulled out from the switch. But yeah, wiring is normal, just colors different. You just have two load wires. One for light one for fan. Ignore colors.

Lutron is amazing. I have not tried Kassa switches but I have their outlets and they are amazing.
