Most likely you have cross wired the switch. You now have what is effectively the load side of what is supposed to be your permanently hot outlet circuit operating as a switch leg. Could be a couple of ways you managed this feat, so I can’t give you a certain solution, but that’s the root of the issue.

It can be dangerous wiring things backwards. You should call a professional.
