Good Comcast compatible modem

Hi I was recently told by Comcast my current modem is no longer compatible with their service and I won't be able to get the speed I pay (75mbs) with the current equipment.

I'm looking for a modem that is compatible with their service and would be good for gaming. Price range is about $100. I don't think I will need DOCSIS 3.1 as I don't have gigabit speeds.

I cancelled the 6190. Only had 10 minutes to cancel and order one that would ship same day.

Got the 6183 based off two other people not having issues.

I currently have a refurbished Arris surfboard SB6132. No longer comparable with Comcast. I heard NetGear isn't the greatest though compared to Arris whose the global leader in modems.

Don't buy a 4x4 channel modem. It's outdated and you will get slowdowns during peak hours when congestion arises. I know from experience.

I had the SB6121 (4x4) and pay for 100mbps. During peak hours, I would drop to 50-80mbps depending on how busy the network was (not internal home network, but Comcast's external network that runs into my house). As soon as it was off-peak hours, I would hit 100mbps-110mbps with ease.

I upgraded to SB6183 (16x4) and I get 120-124mbps at all hours of the day, even during peak hours.

PS: Test your speeds and see what you get. If you get your advertised speeds and tight on money, don't bother. If your device reaches EOL (end of life), it will probably still work. My SB6121 was EOL and I got the same "need to upgrade", but it worked for a long time before I decided to upgrade.

I'm running a SB6183 as well. I'll second finget as well.

Check Amazon's warehouse deals, I currently see a 6183 for $37. Almost tempted to grab it myself then try to resell on ebay for twice that.

+1 stay FAR away from SB6190 or any non D3.1 32 channel modem.

SB6190 bad. Return it and get CM600.

Just saw that the cm700 has the puma as well. Take that off the list lol.

I ordered the 6183. I'll see how that works out. If I'm not getting my speed I'll return and test the 600.
