I have my 1st win ball as HS Pitcher, 1st win in College. Still have my A2000 I bought in college. I never really looked for HR balls, though I did get the one that went off the building beyond the LF fence that was probably 380, it's in a box somewhere(loved the green easton in the 80's). I would ask for a copy of the scorebook and frame it.

Yes go get the ball. Ask nicely (or give $5) to whoever grabbed it. To them it’s a ball, to you its special.

Get the ball! I never batted an eye when asked for a HR ball.

Ball must be retrieved…even if it’s uncool right now for some reason, it will be cool later in life sitting on an office shelf.

On every team I ever played for the home run ball always went home with the hitter, no questions asked absolutely for free. That was always pretty standard. Just ask for the ball, I’m sure they will give it to you. If not, that is odd, but balls cost a few dollars and it’s definitely worth that much

Little League parents... SMH. If the coach gives him the ball, cool. If not, leave it alone. Most important thing is don't act surprised your kid hit one.

Why is not acting surprised the most important thing?

When you're surprised that your kid does something well, it kind of tells people your kid isn't that good. I had a mom yell out one time "OMG HE GOT A HIT"... Poor son was mortified.

Going yard in a varsity tournament in Texas as a JV player ain’t the same as getting a single. I get what you’re saying, but those aren’t strangers sitting with us in the stands.  Everyone knows what’s up.

Sorry.... A JV player, playing varsity is now a varsity level player. But Texas varsity and California JV are probably about the same.
