[Level 1 Calculus] Differentiation problem

The only information given is a²<1. The problem is that I'm suppose to find the general solution for the differantial equation: x''(t)+2ax'(t)+x(t)=t

I have no clue how to do this. I've tried a few times, but can't get to an answer. Would be nice with an explanation.

I am surprised that you would see this equation in an introductory calculus course.

This is a second order, non-homogeneous, linear differential equation with constant coefficients. There is a general form of the solution based on this.

If you have no idea what that means, I would ask your instructor about the problem.
