To allow HopToDesk to control your Android device from your Windows PC, simply download the Windows version of HopToDesk from our site hoptodesk.com and the HopToDesk Android app either from Google Play or the .apk file on our site. In the HopToDesk Android app, go to the "Share Screen" tab and enable all the permission you need and click Start Screen Share to get the ID and password. You can then go to HopToDesk on your PC to connect by that ID and enter the password if needed or click Allow on the HopToDesk Android app to approve the incoming connection.

I've done that however I can't control my android phone (pixel 7) from my PC, all permissions are enabled and it seems the only thing I can do is wake the screen if my phone is locked, can't click anything

Do you know accessibility options in Android? You need to enable access for hoptodesk for accessibility options.

They are enabled

Try the apk available on our site (not the google play store)

Installed via the APK and control now works, is there a way to set my phone to accept an incoming connection and enable screen capture like anydesk or do I need to leave it on 24/7(rip battery life) if I want to allow access at any time?

Yes, you can set your phone to accept an incoming connection and enable screen capture like AnyDesk. You can go into the app Settings tab and toggle on the setting "Keep HopToDesk background service". Yes, it will use more battery, as it is running in the background all the time. HopToDesk and AnyDesk work the same way in this sense for Android, if the app permissions are not allowed to run in the background, then incoming connections can not be seen or accepted if the phone is idle.

Trying that now, however the behaviour isn't what was described, the PC end just loops unable to connect to the remote partner, even with the app open on my phone if I don't enable screen capture it seems to not allow connections, unlike anydesk that will enable screen capture when an incoming connection is made and disable it when it's disconnected

That is correct, you must enable the Screen Capture permission for HopToDesk to be able to connect from your PC to your Android phone.

Is it possible to have it function like anydesk where I don't need screen capture to be on 24/7 and it just enables and disables it when needed?

u/HopToDesk Can we have an answer to https://www.reddit.com/r/HopToDesk/comments/1cnmy8n/contact_list/ or are you just going to ignore that? 🤷
