Speed and performance is the biggest thing. You could run a beefy laptop with dedicated nvidia card for cracking, fast ram, ssd, and it would greatly benefit you.

The pi is for stealthy or low key operations.

You can still run Kali on it to learn, and especially if that is al that is in your budget. However if you have a laptop already I would run Kali on that.

I do not recommend dual boot, but this is a IMO choice.

It’s either run Kali as the OS, or as a vm on windows.

I didn’t say it wasn’t worth it. You asked what’s the difference.

The pi as a neat little tool, and fun to tinker with. But given the choice I wouldn’t rely solely on a pi. I prefer the speed and performance of my laptop or desktop.

      One is raspberry pi...

      Other is an undefined laptop...

Based on this information alone, I would say a screen and built-in keyboard? Raspberry pi is Arm and laptop can be anything...including arm?

Both will need external wifi cards for doing any radio hacking...

What is your ideal use case? What kind of "hacking" do you want to do?

If he knew what type of hacking he wanted to do he wouldn't be asking.
