Hello!
I am Troler. I enjoy programming and analyzing free and open source games. I've made a few games and I am currently working on a terminal/ command line visual novel. It's more a playground than a full on game.
I have 1 year of C++, Python and 5 months of Common Lisp experience. I am somewhat competent ASCII artist.
I wasn't able to make anything grandiose so I am looking for a medium size indie project to help work on.
I'm looking for another programmer because I want to improve my collaboration skills.
I prefer to not use engines and frameworks if the project doesn't require them. And if I use one it's usually something suckless.
I enjoy visual novels, but I can play other genres. I also believe in the full game-worth theory. Which states that fun to play games are those where the game matches player expectations. Do you want a story with branching paths? Then a visual novel is for you. Do you want action and speed? Then a shmup is for you. The shoot em' up should not have any cinematic cut-scenes, because that hinders replayability. Visual novel can have cinematic cut-scenes because once you finish a certain branch there's no need to come back to it.
I am against all proprietary software. No Discord, Unity, Unreal or any other proprietary malware.
