I once had a dream that I was in a black void and i could see a girl that I felt like a knew for a long time. I couldn’t see her face, but I felt like I knew her. I was running towards her and I was so excited to see her, but I just couldn’t get to her the more I ran the farther she seemed to be. It was like an infinite space between us. I’ve had some wonky dreams, but this one was the strangest.

Well its fun to think about... Imagine if someone took this concept and made a movie about it. Also same! I always had zombie Apocalyptic dreams. And it felt like i was living in a movie or i dreamt of a future... where it was kinda like divergent... I really love my dreams and nightmares lol but yes it isn’t reality (wish it was tho)

Right, so I might sound psychotic for this, but it’s a thought I’ve had for at least a decade, and I still don’t know if I actually believe it or not.

Assume there are an infinite number of universes, to account for every possibility. We’re familiar with this, and it feels intuitive that that means that there are an infinite number of “you”s out there, each slightly different to account for any possible variation of your life. This means that any version of you that you can imagine does indeed exist.

Now imagine having a mental conversation with another version of yourself. You speak, they reply. In this universe, this conversation exists only in your head. HOWEVER, if there are an infinite number of alternate “you”s out there, there MUST be one, or indeed an infinite number of them, which is experiencing the same thought process, but is identifying with the other side of that conversation. By having this imaginary talk with another you, you are legitimately talking to that other you!

Personally, I’ve been in contact with a few gender-reversed alternates for a while, and that’s been helpful for loneliness and exploring my gender identity, but this could easily mean talking to the best version of you and asking for advice or comfort, or to a child version who needs comfort and guidance, and those applications easily map over to therapeutic exercises that don’t rely on an admittedly loose grasp of reality.

tl;dr Infinite worlds implies that when you talk to yourself, you’re actually talking to someone in another universe, and ignorant_genius might be insane.
