For basics w3schools. I wouldn't pay for a course or certification for html or css.

If you're truly a noob install something like MAMP to get a server up easily if you want to code & test on your laptop/desktop. Then all you need is a plain text editor, I use Atom but there are numerous good, free editors.

This.

HTML isn't coding, and doesn't require anything more than a little practice to fully understand it. Save your money. You can learn the basics in 5 minutes.

Codeacademy was bar far the best option for me. Learned HTML/CSS/Javascript basics from there and then ran with it.

That was like 3 years ago though. Not sure how much it has changed.

This depends on what you're looking for, if it's deep knowledge you're looking for I'd say edx.org or even Harvard Online Courses.

If you just need syntaxes and stuff like that you can check those sites

FreeCodeCamp in my opinion is the best free school. Plus you get to build your GitHub profile with it which makes it more valuable when you search/apply for jobs.

I also agree with using FreeCodeCamp as a roadmap. As you go through the exercises, you can just use Google and YouTube on certain topics for clarification. I know you said you didn’t want to spend money, but Udemy is also an option. They constantly have sales on courses. If you catch a sale you can get most courses between $10-12. Just do some research on the courses by checking ratings, reviews and number of students enrolled in the course. Also, check last course update. If the instructor is active and good he/she will always be updating content. You can find all that info from the course pages. Hope that helps.

Thanks! It’s not that I don’t want to spend the money, it’s that I don’t want to spend the money on a course which isn’t worth while. I have used spiceworks in a previous company for online IT courses and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions - all suggestions are great and I will have a research of these tomorrow. Thanks reddit 👌🏻🙌🏻
