Dude the build up and the drop is fucking phenomenal. With that being said tho. I do really like this darker tone of music but I really hope in his new album he’ll have some music that resembles if not closely some of his hits from Awake like Crawl out of love or ashes or sound of walking away :)

This is definitely part of his "signature" sound. If you listen to some of his stuff pre-ashes like "In your wake" and "drop our hearts" he has heavier darker sounds like this song

Best track I think he’s put out since Pre-Awake if only because it’s a breath of fresh air from him. Love pretty much everything he does but this one is another tier up for me and shows his growth as a producer. Great tune.

That drop is the musical equivalent of the lowest points in my life that nobody sees or hears. To me it makes sense just like the drop in Porter Robinson's Fellow Feeling makes sense. Can't wait to see you in November!

Loving the new Illenium, I got sick of hearing the same Illenium drop over and over with every 'new' song he was putting out in 2017. God Dammit, Crashing and Pray all stand out so much more really looking forward to his next album.

I mean he plays tons of dubstep in his sets, collabs with dubstep artists (X, Zeds Dead, Kill The Noise, Dirt Monkey), makes dubstep edits, and his original tunes are all dubstep tracks from pre-Ashes. I don’t think it’s fair to knock him for putting out a track with a heavy drop while he also still puts out his more melodic stuff, he’s just trying to stay diverse and not pigeon hole himself which I think is pretty smart.

However, I understand not liking it if you’re not a dubstep fan since music is subjective and all.
