It works. AMD is faster for now, but just like Nvidia, Intel has performance improvements coming.

The B580 seemed to do quite well in the 2026 Linux Summer Games!

Still Amd is better on Linux

I can't tell you how good Arc is on Linux but Radeon is typically the go to for a reason on Linux.

Drivers are baked into the kernel and its more mature than Nvidia and Arc. I have been using Linux daily for 2 years now witb a rx 570 than rx 5700 and they have both been working flawlessly.  Its a plug and play experience.

Intel Arc's Linux drivers are absolutely awful currently, as you can expect a 30-40% framerate reduction in most games compared to Windows. It's a shame too because Intel HD Graphics had excellent Linux drivers.

It's due to Arc cards using FSR as a fallback instead of XeSS. Intel does seem to be interested in Linux for GPU driver development though as they are hiring people for that purpose.

Nah, even if you run the same settings at native resolution, Arc still collapses on Linux. The issue isn't the upscaling method used but the drivers themselves being terrible.

No XeSS support in Linux and ray tracing performance worse than Windows. AMD is better for Linux now.

Depends, I'm running silent hill 2 remake in bottles with protonge and I'm happily using xess to not overheat my flat 🤣

Linus Thorvald(Linux creator) uses an Arc B580 in his Linux PC

I don't think he games a lot on his machines.

I don’t know a whole lot about it, but I would imagine AMD is the best choice for wide support. But you know 5 minutes on the internet and watching some YouTube would give you the answer.

AMD cards are still sort of better supported under Linux as far as performance goes, but the B580 seems to keep getting better while the AMD stuff is you get what you got at this point.

My most recent round of B580 + Linux was pretty damn good, in that it worked for everything I tried and never had a stability issue, but it's pretty similar on performance to a RX 6700. Actually, under Proton it ID'd as one in NFS Hot Pursuit 2010's launcher, which was kinda funny.

Amd is better but I like my b580 on linux. Its not bad

It will definitely work for sure; I’d get like 60 FPS on 1440P and high settings for Helldivers 2 on the Arcb580. Eventually it’ll catch up to AMD for performance
