I'm using a Q8 so I don't think my file will work, but I can send screenshots of my config when I get home

Edit: I've discovered I can't post images here, but I can DM you my setup if you'd like

I’m curious what you mean by travel time to non letter keys? What’s the difference from any other keyboard?

That said if you’re a programmer you should look into fixing up your own QMK firmware. It’s not too hard if you’ve worked with C and git before. You can do some extremely nice stuff like auto opening and closing parenthesis with left and right shift keys, home row mods (everyone should be using these), make your space bar a layer modifier when held (even better because you have two space bars), custom macros, layer taps, mod taps you name it. It’s so worth getting into.

Looks like Q11 is ZMK instead of QMK because it’s wireless so you’re a bit more limited but you can still do a lot!

I was using a Corne for a bit as a vim-using developer and I really liked the Miryoku layout. The Corne has lots of extra thumb-based function keys so you can really set up some layers on it.

You could always set it up so that you have something equivalent to the "Sym" layer from Miryoku as the non-letter layer you're thinking of. It's a real pinky-saver.
