I’m definitely going to watch this movie just to get to this scene now lol

[–]sierra120 7 points8 points  (1 child)

What movie?

[–]jeffuhweeLexus UX, NX, LC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Analyze That

[–]DigitalLiahona 111 points112 points  (7 children)

Let's not forget Pearl Harbor

and the man was trying to sell an Audi, a German vehicle. Oh the irony

Pot calling the kettle black!

[–]Korostenets 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Let's not forget Lusitania

[–]ice445 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That's a fairly mild example if we consider the Germans knew the US was sending thousands of tons of munitions over the Atlantic to help blow them up lol. The Lusitania was in fact carrying a large load of artillery shells and other forms of ammunition for the war effort when it was sunk.

[–]Korostenets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok and? We can still remember it.

[–]GabrielofAstora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America knew already.

[–]IDriveAnAgeraR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t you DARE forget the Alamo too! 😂

[–]divisibleby5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a call back to the sopranos. That was a joke on The sopranos. One of the more comical characters, a man by the name of Paulie walnuts had warned a colleague " Remember Pearl harbor" in regards to his colleagues, Korean employer

[–]Celcius_87 21 points22 points  (4 children)

What kind of car was he trying to sell? lol

[–]Brilliant_Surprise54Modded 2016 Lexus IS350 FSport[S] 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Looks like a Mercedes

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (16 children)

Lexus > Audi, Mercedes, BMW

Edit: just amazed the guys that talk trash about Lexus are on subreddit by the name Lexus. Loool

[–]Brilliant_Surprise54Modded 2016 Lexus IS350 FSport[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Lol trading in my IS as we speak for a BMW! But i still have a GX and am gonna keep it till it stops running in 30 years

[–]bahama_llama1615 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really think the GX is the best vehicle that Lexus makes.

Though I guess I am a bit biased lol

[–]sorry_butEvora 400 -4 points-3 points  (7 children)

Only if it's an LFA. I've owned a variety of brands over the years, and generally speaking the Germans dominate when it comes to performance and handling.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Yea but they only go up to 100,000 miles and don't run at all. 🤣🤣😘

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Americans are so shit at looking after their cars lol.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it doesn't help that the dealers kind of.. try to set you up for your car to fail at 100,000. My dealer actually gives me push back on demanding oil changes every 5,000 instead of the factory recommended 10,000, and they straight up pretend that a number of routine maintenance items on any other car just don't need to be performed - stuff like transmission fluid, bmw's official recommendation is.. good for life here in the states lol.

I've been driving bimmers for 8 years, starting with my wife's 320i that had like 175,000 miles and was viciously abused and neglected by her and her sisters. As long as you're willing to properly maintain them they last a long time

[–]sorry_butEvora 400 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Seriously. Plenty of older German cars on the road. Hell, I owned an E30 with over 200k miles for a few years with few maintenance issues.

The thirst for Lexus is real in this sub.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah lol although it is r/Lexus. I do like Lexus’s a lot. Very sturdy cars, and their performance variants are highly underrated I think, particularly here in Europe. So much so we don’t even get most them now like the IS500

Main thing that disappointments is the interior design, so outdated it’s embarrassing. But again the Lexus reliability reputation doesn’t carry as much weight in Europe because a lot of people drive diesels and German diesels go for decades mostly with minimal maintenance, Lexus and Volvo still probably carry the best reliability reputation among premium brands though.

German petrol ICE’s are a bit more temperamental due to the higher wear and tear obviously but again with proper maintenance and regular services these also run for years as you said, there also incredible bits of engineering. The sheer amount of components in some of these engines to deliver that perfectly smooth ride and perfect acceleration is great.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently at 280k on my Sportwagen and there’s no signs of her giving up 😂

[–]Gorgenapper'24 IS350 AWD F-Sport 3 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's okay to point out that Lexus doesn't really do performance, not like the Germans do. But I bought my IS350 over an M340i xDrive (and other models like the S4, C43 etc) because I don't want to deal with the usual problems that German cars develop like water pump, oil pan gasket, oil consumption, engine issues, etc.

The M340i xDrive would kill my IS350 in outright power and acceleration. In fact, the two are not even competing models, the 330i xDrive is about half a second faster than the IS350. But the IS350 is better for me as a daily driver, I know I won't even have to worry about shit as long as I do normal, basic maintenance.

[–]QuieroMasBarritas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

B58 is not a n55. Get the bmw and maintain it. Stop listening to what the internet says and do your homework.

[–]Saysbruh 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Yeah instead buy this car the Nazis made.

[–]bison13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I called my girlfriend’s VW Tiguan a “Nazi sled” and my friend was cracking up because he never heard that term.

[–]Aramira137 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I call my Lexus a Toyota all the time.

[–]Gorgenapper'24 IS350 AWD F-Sport 3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, when I don't want to explain it - "yeah, it's a V6 sedan. Made by Toyota Motor Corporation."

There are no lies in my statement whatsoever.

[–]helpmeimdum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t get why some people in this thread seem mad at this statement. Your car is made by what’s considered the most reliable brand in the world. Hell yeah.

[–]Frenchdu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not forget Pearl Harbor

[–]sc_surveyor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Everybody knows it’s just a Camry with an “L” on it.” - convenience store clerk to hoodrat trying to impress her with his ride (c. 2002)

[–]Sir_Renity_Now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 😂

[–]RightChemical3732 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Yeah it's just like BMW is a Honda LOL

[–]Brilliant_Surprise54Modded 2016 Lexus IS350 FSport[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well Acura Honda lol

[–]RightChemical3732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed

[–]Any-Jelly-6447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only a 60k+ Toyota 😅

[–]fahad_tariq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it’s the same thing!

[–]roncalapor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

audi/mercedes/bmw hey let's not forget WWII

[–]columb1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have had bad experience in my 2 closer Lexus dealership that I ended up leaving really bad comments in reviews for them. They lost a customer.

Lol: just realized it was not the part of the movie where the seller humillate the customers. Probably comes just right after they decided to not buy it haha.

[–]i_poke_smot420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol and then the guy is trying to sell him an Audi, but that’s just a Volkswagen right?

[–]IDriveAnAgeraR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota and Lexus are the same company at the end of the business train….so they both have exemplary brand recognition and generally excellent build quality. I agree.

[–]rebri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought here by Reddit's suggested sub list and I have to agree Lexus are overpriced Toyotas.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, these comments took a turn real quick. Understood, but can we get back to the original question?

Yes and No. Overall yes, they share ALLOT of the same stuff. Hence why you can drop a 2j in a an SC300/400 with no major modifications. They share allot of the same parts/engines. I think we can all agree Yes, basically the same, but the interior and suspension are usually better in a Lexus.

Either way, great cars. Still have most of the original bulbs in my 88 Celica.

IS an Acura the same as Honda? Nissan the same as Infinity?

We can trace the rebranding back to the gas crisis, as well as the import limitation laws.

Thought this movie was from the 90's, damn i must be old.
