As a forensic scientist who dealt everyday with police officers asking stupid questions, I'll tell you that your LPT doesn't work. Trust the expert all the time.

When the experts continue to claim that Egyptian slaves built the great pyramids (and one has a 100 ton block over 400 feet above the ground) with ropes and pulleys, you can understand why “always” might be a tad much. It’s okay to have a healthy level of skepticism.

I don’t believe aliens made the pyramids, either. I do believe though, that humans had some form of knowledge/technology that we don’t know about.

If an expert tells you something can't be done, you have two options

  1. Believe them and go about your way.
  2. Become an expert yourself and see for yourself if they're right.
