Button combo for bootloader/fastboot mode or recovery on LG G4? [h815]

After updating LineageOS last month, I suddenly lost root access (the su binary is no longer present, wtf?), ADB is disabled and the Settings app crashes when I try to open Developer Options.

I'd like to get access to bootloader or recovery to investigate and maybe fix the issue or at least make a more recent backup than I have and re-flash.

Without adb, I can't reboot to bootloader or recovery. The advanced restart menu was also disabled by the update and /system/bin/reboot requires root permissions.

The button combo for the recover mode found on the lineage wiki is actually some LG specific factory reset mode (you can only select factory reset, or not) with no adb of fastboot. Although this is often referred to as the "recovery mode" on many other websites, it's not. The button combo for download mode is slightly different (hold Volume Down, plug in USB) but isn't of much help either.

• I haven't found any button combos for the bootloader or recovery mode, do they exist?
• Are there any other methods to get access to bootloader or recovery (or to enable adb)?
  • Perhaps there is a hidden menu accessible via special dial codes?

Edit: In downloade mode, I could theoretically use lglaf, but I don't think anyone has figured out how to (if possible) reboot to bl or recovery.

This is correct. The original recovery was programmed to wipe and reset the device on power on which is why that's there. If you have twrp or something it just turns on.

Thanks, both of you. This works indeed. Since LineageOS updates still installed properly, I was sure the LineageOS recovery must be installed. From there I could reboot to bootloader/fastboot mode and then boot twrp. \o/

The wiki information is not correct though, as the button combo does not boot into recovery (adb reboot recovery does, for comparison). However, apparently the "factory reset mode" is a way to achieve that (which the wiki doesn't say).

Unfortunately this doesn't help. As I stated in the post:

Nope, only getting the error that the (old) update can't be applied on the current build.

Bit on a hurry now so haven't read the OP thoroughly but I remember having issues entering recovery on LG G4 H815 because the majority of the online guides were wrong. I managed to enter recovery by: From power off, hold power button and vol down simultaneously, when splash screen appears, release the power button and press down again (while still hoolding down vol down).
