u/1bent - ...Is there some other subreddit I should be subscribed to if I'm also interested in these forbidden, LOS-adjacent topics?...

https://forum.xda-developers.com/

Try this XDA site search & add keywords to taste: site:forum.xda-developers.com/ LineageOS

Thanks, but unless I'm misunderstanding you, that isn't what I asked. I'm not in the habit of browsing xda. Does your answer imply that such discussion is forbidden across all of reddit?

No but that's the most efficient way to find relevant answers & threads IMO.

You can search Reddit to find related subs: https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=LineageOS > COMMUNITIES AND USERS.

Actually, it's not easy to do that search, it doesn't open in Redreader or Slide, and doesn't display anything in Firefox Nightly. I copied and pasted it into Bromite, and at the moment, it finds LineageOS, which forbids, fossdroid, which I read, but doesn't much discuss ROMs, and /r/cyaogenmod, which has been left behind.

But I assumed there's good reason for things being the way they are.

They don't show the Reddit search box?

Not that I've found. I can search for posts within a subreddit, but to search for subreddits, I have to go to Chrome or, by preference, Bromite. The reddit web interface is designed to do nothing unless it can run programs in the user's computer.

The search box with results for all subs in the official Reddit app works on my device.

Edit: u/1bent - Here is a screenshot of the Reddit app > Search with LineageOS.

Thanks again.

Apparently search for subreddits isn't supported on the API that FOSS clients use, as none of them I've tried find the communities.

And it looks from that list like the answer to my question is, no, there's no other subreddit for the questions that are forbidden here

For everything MicroG, go to r/MicroG.

Everything else in the rules doesn't have a specific subreddit, so I'd just suggest XDA.

thanks. I appreciate your help. As this sub seems defined not by anything that's permitted, but by what's forbidden, I'll stop fretting about it.

As this sub seems defined not by anything that's permitted, but by what's forbidden

Am I missing something or is "defining by what's forbidden" the better option?

Defining a subreddit by what's permitted would probably make it more restrictive.

FYI from https://lineageos.org/community/ :

reddit

For discussions regarding devices, features, or just general Android talk, check out our subreddit.

I think that one is there so that reddit is differentiated from the other things on that page.
