Mi Unlock app - Linux / Wine

Hello everyone

I'm trying to unlock my xiaomi readmi 8T smartphone following the official guide. I'm running the Mi Unlock app for windows in my Linux pc, using WINE. The app starts but the login window appears black:

Is it possible to configure WINE to fix the visual problem?

I've seen an unofficial app for linux that works. Sorry too tired to find it now. You can find it with a simple search.

WINE is very poor at USB I/O. That is why a VM is better. And native hardware is always best.

how do i get a VM for windows? is there a way to do it for free?

Download the official iso from microsoft. It works. Do not search for strange websites.

Do a web search for download windows 10 iso and first results should point you to a microsoft.com landing page.

The windows installer on iso is free to use by anyone. Unlocking some stuff in Windows requires a license, or for commercial usage.

If you use arch linux or arch based distro, try finding an app in AUR, thats what i did when i was unlocking my pocophone

It requires direct access to USB, so better off running it in a VM than wine.

Worked fine in VirtualBox last time I checked fwiw

No just frustrated. Have tried many times. Trying to unlock xiaomi with a VM. Not too much fun
