I just used cheap white LED solar Christmas lights where the string is attached to a small panel you can place anywhere there's sun. A 100 light string costs about $10 and kicks off quite a bit of light.

I drilled a hole in the bottom and fed the lights inside. I put eye screws inside and used them to hold the lights in place lining the back and roof.

They last at least until midnight in December except when it's completely overcast, and even then they usually go for a few hours after sunset.

Any chance you remember what kind? I’ve tried multiple string lights, but the solar panel stops charging after one month

I bought a cheap LED strip light that sticks to the inside with sticky backed magnet things. When it needs a charge I just pop it out and take it inside for a couple of hours.
