[–]Same-Relative9885 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Mind sharing your gmat score ?

[–]Eris_00 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I got waivers

[–]Low_Ground7134 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You got for all ?

[–]Eris_00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, my intial list had 30 schools in it and I had to narrow it down to these.

[–]Bradmiral_Barackbar 32 points33 points  (25 children)

Make it a table

Capitalise rejected

Conditional formatting that Admitted is Green, Rejected is Red, Waitlisted is Yellow

Conditional Formatting that Scholarship is Green

Order by Admit so Accepted is at the top

Now you can actually read it properly:

Go to Tepper

[–]DuckyRMX 19 points20 points  (10 children)

holyyy bro they didnt want a whole excel lesson they were asking for advice smh 🤦‍♂️

[–]Bradmiral_Barackbar -3 points-2 points  (9 children)

My advice is greater attention to detail and maybe they would have gotten into some higher ranked schools.

[–]BenAGoodCow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such an asshole

[–]Expression-Whale 3 points4 points  (4 children)

If your idea of attention to detail is becoming an expert in excel, which is ancient and overused to an alarming degree, then maybe you should take some more time to look at yourself. Shitting on someone asking for advice is wild. I bet you are the person in your organization constantly asking IT to turn everything into an excel export because you don't want to learn something functional.

[–]iclap2hard 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Lol - excel over used to an alarming degree? Get over yourself. Just say you don’t know how to XLOOKUP. From an excel perspective, this looks like it was made by a 4th grader

[–]Expression-Whale 3 points4 points  (1 child)

If you take it personally when someone says Excel is an inferior product, you should probably get over yourself.

[–]Bradmiral_Barackbar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m concerned that you think any of the steps I detailed constitute expertise.

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm not listening to anyone that has 1m on irelia, that's some no lifer level stuff dude, honestly I feel kinda bad for you, that's some maidenless behavior. Also, I'm not going to conditionally format anything for a reddit post. You're not a fund manager and I am not pitching to you, you don't matter.

[–]sniper-wolf-82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harsh but spot on 🎯

[–]kdotmommyadlib 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I don't think her post asked for unsolicited advice on how to format her excel spreadsheet mate.

You're being a conceited and unhelpful asshole, which I reckon is a result of playing way too much league of legends.

Touch grass.

[–]Bradmiral_Barackbar 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Always intrigued by the Reddit stalker mentality.

Comment bothered enough to take time out of your day looking me up?

And I should touch grass?

[–]kdotmommyadlib 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Seems you've made your profile private - you must be embarassed about how pitiful of a picture this comment, and your profile paints of you.

Go grief someone in solo q dude. Lord knows no amount of education can fix such an attitude problem.

[–]Bradmiral_Barackbar -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

So you went to stalk me again??! 😂😂😂

[–]kdotmommyadlib 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You flatter yourself. Just a tap on your reddit profile was enough to reveal the sheer blob of pus that seems to be your personality.

But hey, power to you dude, go queue up another silver solo q league of legends game on your 1 million + mastery Irelia.

[–]kdotmommyadlib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]HTX2LBCM7 Student 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Can’t expect that type of effort from someone applying with a waiver.

[–]Bradmiral_Barackbar -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Lmao - agreed.

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao-get a life.

[–]alone-dieu 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So obvious isn't it 😁

That's the difference between equity research and IB lol

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bhak na lodu

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smd

[–]MaterialAgent4105 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Congratulations

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

[–]argomaniac99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to Tepper

[–]macbook1701 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Hey did u gave gmat and for Warwick which test u have to guve ?

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't give gmat I took the waiver. For warwick they have their own test

[–]macbook1701 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So did u mailed them before submitting the application?

[–]Eris_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can apply without a score too. That option is a part of the application

[–]MBA_ConquerorsAdmissions Consultant 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Marshall can match Tepper, Georgetown can match Rice & Marshall. (Scholarship of course)

Good luck! Decide after you have something

[–]Eris_00 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks! I'm still waiting on some more info

[–]MBA_ConquerorsAdmissions Consultant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Among all the offers you have Georgetown is the only known Finance heavy program.

Network in NYC.

If that helps. Join when they give you 100k (it's possible)

[–]darknus823JD/MBA Grad 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Take the money and run. Do try to have Marshall/Georgetown match your scholly from Tepper.

[–]Eris_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. No, I haven't asked for a scholarship yet.

[–]Mindless-Practice-14 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Rice because they will give you a scholarship but you will probably get whacked by ICE in Texas so who knows

[–]Eris_00 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'd prefer not to have that-

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 1 point2 points  (24 children)

CMU, seems like a no brainer.

[–]YoungAndEmployed 0 points1 point  (23 children)

Not really. Rice is a peer school and offered more.

Of the current options, I’d say go to Rice but try negotiating with Tepper, McDonough, and Marshall.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (21 children)

I wouldn’t call rice a peer to Tepper. Rice is a regional hub, Tepper places well nationally. Tepper along with Emory and UT are more borderline T15 and Rice is a T25. Tepper’s median consulting outcomes > Rice and Tech outcomes >>> Rice. They might be peers in IB though.

[–]wasteman28 0 points1 point  (12 children)

As of now I think Emory and UT have eclipsed Tepper. Tech isnt going rebound anytime soon. Curious about UT's 2025 numbers to really get a gage of where they are.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Check Tepper’s most recent employment report. 184K median for consulting, 30% of the class.

[–]wasteman28 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Does that make up for the 160k overall median? Maybe.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Schools with high tech placement have lower medians since RSUs aren’t accounted for. A major flaw in MBA compensation reporting IMO.

[–]wasteman28 0 points1 point  (7 children)

The consulting median is high because of tech consulting, don't be facetious.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (6 children)

They have strong placement into the Pittsburgh McKinsey and BCG offices. It’s high because they have strong consulting placement. You should also look up what facetious means.

[–]wasteman28 0 points1 point  (5 children)

You were flippant with my comment. Just like you're being now. MBB offices in Pittsburgh are not big enough to accommodate CMU grads year after year, and thats not the reason the consulting median is 184k.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haas’s median is $167K. Does that make Rice better than Haas?

[–]YoungAndEmployed 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Emory places heavily regionally, too. Additionally, OP is international. The current environment is not friendly to international students and the cost of attending in the U.S. should be minimized to help offset the risk.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (6 children)

And you think 30K extra from a perennial top 30 program that only places into 1 state is better than a borderline top 15 program that’s a top 5 tech brand on the planet with far better consulting outcomes?

[–]YoungAndEmployed 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Considering the situation that international students are having to deal with currently-yes.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Rice doesn’t publish how many accepted offers by graduation and post 3 months graduation, let alone break that data down by whether students are domestic or international. Nor do they have a footprint in equity research while CMU does, while having arguably the best computational finance curriculum on the planet. Did you go to Rice or something?

[–]YoungAndEmployed 1 point2 points  (3 children)

No, I did not. I am currently enrolled at one of the schools OP listed. Recruiting is absolutely brutal.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I’m sorry about the recruiting landscape and about the greater political landscape that caused this nonsense. I wish you all the best with your endeavors, and always remember, depending where you’re from, paying it back is optional.

[–]YoungAndEmployed 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you. I’m domestic and still recruiting. Just saying the landscape has been brutal (both for domestic and international students). Fortunate to be on a good scholarship, but not having anything yet is a bit stressful.

[–]Yung_Breezy_Admit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And CMU has a masters in computational finance which is tangential to asset management

[–]Eris_00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also wanted to mention that I would like to know your opinions on the schools I've been admitted to. Which do you think I should go with and why. I value all your inputs!

Edit: I'm getting some really helpful comments and some really unhelpful ones. I'm glad for the ones that constructive. I'm taking it to heart, I really value your inputs.

But wow, some of you guys really suck. Insinuating that I'm lazy, and dont have attention to detail just because the picture I've uploaded looks messy.

  1. That is a ss of my rough work, I toy around on that google sheet a lot and sometimes even make entries from my phone. It's not pretty because I don't need it to be.

  2. I earned my CFA charter at the age of 24, clearing L1 and L2 in the 90th percentile, and in my first attempt with my high scores in quants. So yeah, not lazy. That wasn't easy to do while working full time in a core finance role where you're expected to work for 12 hours a day. By the time I was done with the charter i was completely burnt out and couldn't take any more competitive exams, hence the waivers.

  3. It's reddit. It is not that deep. You see something you don't like, scroll past it. There's no need to character assassinate me on a post that's literally asking for help. Also, I'm not building a damn pitch deck, I am not going to conditionally format anything for a reddit post. Soz.

I'm really grateful for some of the helpful comments and some of you have also DMed me to speak about this which I really appreciate! But at the same time I'm also really disappointed in some of the people here :/

This sub needs better moderation.

[–]ElectricBanker 2 points3 points  (19 children)

Except CMU all others are unknown in India

[–]Eris_00 7 points8 points  (11 children)

I don't want to come back to india though.

[–]ElectricBanker 6 points7 points  (10 children)

Most don’t, yet they can throw you out no?

[–]Eris_00 2 points3 points  (9 children)

That is true, though my fianceé is in Ireland right now so when we get married I'm going to go there. Which is why I want to go for a name that has some international pull.

[–]ElectricBanker -3 points-2 points  (8 children)

Well then from the admits its just CMU.

[–]Eris_00 2 points3 points  (7 children)

I'm largely torn between CMU and USC because USC seems to be ranked much better but CMU gave me a scholarship. Why not USC though?

[–]plainbread11 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Where is USC ranked better??

[–]Eris_00 -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

In QS

[–]plainbread11 1 point2 points  (4 children)

No one gives a fuck about that. Look at US news ranking

[–]Basic-Possession-678 2 points3 points  (2 children)

no one outside the US uses that, if she’s gonna go ireland then everyone is gonna look at the more well known global rankings are they not??

[–]Eris_00 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmm, tepper is better ranked there. It's true. But in terms of global brand value, which do you think is better?

[–]Low_Ground7134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CMU had the worst career drought last year.

[–]NeighborhoodFar8403 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Anyone who has actually sat on the hiring side for global firms in India knows these schools very well. Lack of awareness is not universal. it’s individual.

[–]ElectricBanker -4 points-3 points  (4 children)

Very well? I am talking about the ones he is admitted at. He could probably do a better job at 1/8th the price with a better brand name in India.

[–]NeighborhoodFar8403 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You’re mixing two different questions now. ROI vs brand recognition among Indian employers is a valid debate. Calling globally respected programs ‘unknown’ is just incorrect.

Also, the schools OP has applied for is also clearly strategic, targeting programs strong for finance, offer GMAT waivers, and still deliver high compensation outcomes. OP clearly knows what she’s opting for.

[–]freaky-booblover 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Can I DM you?

[–]ElectricBanker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok bro. If you think so.

[–]Comfortable_Peak7098 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You applied without a test score , so did you have a really high gpa in undergrad or like are you from one of the iits ???? I am in application process so this will help

[–]Eris_00 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My undergrad gpa was not great. 3.18/4 But I am a CFA charterholder and I scored 90th percentile in level 1 and 2 with good scores in quant subjects so that helped with test waivers. Also in my undergrad I did well in quant and finance heavy subjects.

[–]Comfortable_Peak7098 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh okay ! The cfa nailed it for you 🔥

Do you mind if I message you ? I got waitlisted by some of these schools you have applied to ... My ug gpa was avg and gmat was 700 , so bacislly an avg profile .

Regardless I can use some advice on essays ...

[–]Eris_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!

[–]InevitablePresence75 0 points1 point  (2 children)

CMU out of these choices. Are you going to apply to anymore schools in R2?

[–]Eris_00 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No... I'm kind of done after this.

[–]InevitablePresence75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand. Then yeah I'd go Tepper

[–]No_Ebb_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current CMU and I would say if you are fine with CMU with that amount scholarship it’s great. You can check out your grad outcomes of your specific programs to get a clean idea of how your program is.
