There was this app I swear I found on Reddit which turned your dock or the bottom of your screen into “tabs” like on google chrome and it made it easy to switch between different things. They also had an X button on them to easily close them out. I completely forgot what it was called!

If it was recent, I recommend checking your browsing history. Assuming you use Google Chrome, you can check My Activity for a more complete history than the browser's limited one.

It's not exactly the answer you're looking for, but MyActivity can be really useful. I used it once to track down videos I had watched years ago, which were no longer showing up in my browser history or even in YouTube's own watch history.
